Sunday 16 November

This week has been very busy - Tim has been feeling very miserable as he has been so ill but he has kept mucking out those litters.
we've been hand raising kittens all week, so that meant night feeds which is always tiring. But they have picked up now, they can eat on their own and so we only have to give them top ups twice daily now. They are now running around like mad thank goodness.

Friday was an airport run to Heathrow, so Katey was left to clean all the chalets on her own whilst Tim and i drove to collect Huck and Brisco, two gorgeous Domestic Shorthairs.

By Saturday Tim was feeling much better but still not his normal self. Tiredness was starting to catch up with me now, and so it was an early night for me tonight.

Sunday - its time to Panacur worm some of the kittens - I'm a strong believer in worming cats and kittens, and Panacur helps keep Gardia away also. they will have another two doses of Panacur before they go to their homes. The kittens hate it and try to spit it out but in the end they give up and just drool a little as they walk around with a miserable look on their faces.

Phoenix has her usual dirty bum that she gets when she is pregnant, so we wash it with some lovely warm water. Although she objects to start with she enjoys the soothing effect it has. This is a daily job with Phoenix until she gives birth. She doesn't spray she marks her pen with little dots of loose poo, then she will go to the loo and perform a sold stool. dirty little minx, she just likes to give us extra work - he he!

Dibs goes out to run around and have some exercise now. She is loving it, climbing and jumping around her exercise area. Dibs is calling like mad but she can't go back to stud, in fact, we think she may be neutered, in which case she will be looking for her forever home.

Jade has visiting rights with her kittens now and you can see the relief on her face when she comes away. She is so desperate to have a cuddle herself she doesn't want her kittens to get the attention - he he!

Cash also has visiting rights with her kittens now although she is more than ready to go back to them. she loves her babies and her foster baby but she needs that rest from them occasionally as she is starting to call again.

night shift

Hand feeding some gorgeous snow Bengal babies, what a nightmare it can be when you loose the battle with one as we did Tuesday. But we have taken them all away from mum and have them on hot water bottles and under that is a heat pad to keep the hot water bottles warm. The movement in the hot water bottles comforts the babies whilst they sleep.
we have taken them back to their milk feeding and with lots of TLC we hope to bring them through. Next stage is to get them onto watered down pureed meat to allow their digestions to adapt slowly to the processed food. so far so good. Its now Thursday and they are starting to want to feed which makes things a whole lot easier.

Wednesday night/Thursday morning
I've no idea what time it was last night when i received the first phone call from Simon. Suki was having her babies and had a kittens tail showing. It was wonderful to hear the excitement of the first litter being born.
Then another phone call to say all was well with mum and her first kitten born, unfortunately the placenta had gone back inside but not to worry, there is plenty of time for it to come out later.
Another phone call tells me all is well and the placenta came out followed immediately by another wonderful snow Bengal kitten.
When Simon rang me this morning he sounded shattered but happy to see his gorgeous Suki and Scar with their gorgeous babies feeding contentedly.
All this time "scar" was laid by his Suki, keeping her safe and reassuring her when she had pain.

Friends staying

Sunday
K & S arrived early and started helping feeding and mucking out litters, their feet didn't have time to touch the ground.
Sarah then started on a wonderful brunch, she had brought everything with her - a full English Breakfast - how good was that!
Whilst Sara was cooking Kelly was still cleaning out kittens and their mums in the dining room which allowed Tim to continue in the Quarantine and I continued in the Bengal House, seeing to the boys.
What a welcome treat when we sat down to our "Full English".
We all then finished all the work and cleaning and due to Kelly and Sara working so hard we could sit and enjoy an evening together. the bookwork could wait until another day, and we talked cats all evening.
Monday morning and you guessed it, K&S were already up and working. Hand feeding a kitten that was struggling, feeding, watering, and cleaning litters. these girls can certainly work!
Not only did we enjoy they help by we had a great laugh with wonderful company.

TICA show

Saturday 8th November, we had an early start to the day and we managed to set off for the show at 6am. It was dreadful weather with lots of spray on the roads so maybe that's why there weren't many vehicles on the roads.
We arrived early at the show - makes a change - I'm normally rushing to make vetting in on time.
We had a great day at show and Renegade finalled in 4 out of 6 rings. In the two rings he didn't final in he was given BEST OF BREED in one and 2nd Best of Breed in the other - both with the same judge.
It was a lovely friendly show and we managed to join up with some of our show friends and also make new Friends. Many thanks to Val and Sue who arranged the show and also to their wonderful show team who put in so much effort to make this show a success.
