Wedding Aniversary

Cards exchanged. Delivery man turns up with a parcel for me, now I'm feeling guilty as I haven't bought Tim a pressy. Opened up, Ohhhh those Thorntons chocs, out goes my promise to myself to start and eat less chocolate after the christmas feasting, although I'm sure Tim will help me with all those lovely chocolates.
Another snow girl to go this morning - lovely girl, she can't seem to stop purring as soon as anyone goes near her, she needs a cuddle all the time. Pet name is now Poppy - have a long and happy life!
PM - Received phone call from Poppy's new owner whilst she is having cuddles, puts Poppy on the phone - all that purring! - Loud and clear! - Both owner and kitten very happy! Just what we are looking for.
Tim and Vicky have looked after all the feeding, watering and litters for me today, I haven't had to do anything but go and have a cuddle with cats - lovely! Blissi seems to have caught on. Dinky is doing well in her pregnancy. Is Dreamer going to carry through this pregnancy or not? In the past she usually resorbs at about 3 weeks gone, she's about that now - we'll wait and see, she seems to be doing well at the moment. Bellissima is doing well in her pregnancy, only another week to go and we will see her silver to silver babies. Who will they take after? Their mum Bellissima - individual, rosetted spots or their dad with his three shades of marbling and that clear background.
Lynn came to see me - haven't seen her in ages - nice to have a gossip about her rescue cats. Lyn helps Cath of ROCK (Rescue of Cats and Kittens). ROCK was kindly featured in the February issue of Your Cats, hopefully she may receive a little more help - volunteers, adoptions or donations are all welcome as she does it all without funding from other organisations.
Tim has made up the coal fire in the lounge early and I am now going to do some of my bookwork in front of the fire.
Speak soon!

Sunday 29 January 2006

Is today a happy or sad day, I'm not sure.
Yesterday, Spice (blue-eyed snow spotted kitten) was adopted, she has gone to a lovely home with a lovely lady, who is obviously going to love her dearly. She will have a sister cat to get to know and love, I'm sure she will be happy but I can't help feeling a little sorry.
Today, Mauddib (blue-eyed snow spotted kitten) has been adopted by a lovely couple. His new dad was here early to adopt him, so I'm sure he will be happy in his new home with their enthusiasm and love of animals. Mauddib will have other cats and 2 Dalmation dogs to play with.
Mohiam (blue-eyed snow spotted kitten) adopted by a lovely couple who live in the same village as us and so we hope to see her occasionaly. She will make a lovely lap cat, just what Val is looking for. Teething at the moment, she has been spending the last couple of days destroying a cardboard box. She comes whenever I call her without hesitation, she loves to rest on your shoulder and so I will miss her trying to drink my coffee and pinch my biscuits. She had already won her side class, second in another side class and second in her open class at Notts and Derby.
Good Luck and a long and happy life to you all!

Notts and Derby Show

A Great day at a very friendly show! I took Kary (Brown Marbled female kitten) and Mohiam (Blue - Eyed Snow Spotted female kitten). Photos of both shown on our show page on our website. It was lovely to meet all our friends and make new ones.
Kary did very well, she was her usual friendly loving self. She loves the world and everyone in it, although she was a little suspicious of the Mau in the next pen to her. Kary kept a continuous growl under her breath throughout the show. She was there snuggling into everyone's tickles but I could feel her growl. She won first in her Open and Best Of Breed, I was pleased as this was her last kitten class.
I was even more pleased with Mohiam. It was her first show and she was only just old enough to enter as she was born on 10 October, still such a baby. She loved the show, although she became a little tired later in the day, but she was sensible and went to sleep. Too often these kittens are too nosey and will not rest all day. She was second in her Open to a lovely snow girl (2 months older than Mohiam) and she was first of seven in one of her side classes. She loved all the cuddles she had throughout the day and unlike Kary she rested all the way home. Kary however, in the best Bengal manner, shouted at us and the other cats all the way home telling us all about the show - as if we weren't there!
Congratulations to Karen for winning her Open with Frayer (Maine Coon) and her third CC, she's now a Champion - Well Done!
Many thanks to Debby for driving us, I hope you and jeana enjoyed the show as much as we did.

Goodnight Navana

2am aprox. I became aware of a little paw gently tapping on my nose, I was half asleep so I turned over to be faced with two big beutiful eyes peering into mine and a stuffed black rat on my cheek. Navana wanted to play "fetch". I hurled Navana's fav. toy as far as I could to the other end of the room. Not too far when your nearly asleep. No time at all and it was dropped onto my face. I just couldn't find the enthusiasm that Navana had. Not to worry, I thought, she'll soon tire of this. No way, I'm not sure how long it went on, but it seemed like ages, again and again I hurled the "black rat" as far as I could, again and again it came back. If I was asleep Navana would gently tap me on the nose and her inocent look of glee would be enough to encourage me to hurl the "black rat" once more. She finally tired of it all and came and curled up in my arms, she was so happy. I seemed to have just dropped off to sleep when I felt her get up. Oh no, I thought, not again. I was wrong, once she had recovered the black rat and pushed it gently under my chin for safety, she was content enough to fall asleep in my arms. By this time Bella (Navana's Foster Mum), had squeezed up behind me as close as she could. There I was wedged between Bella, Navana and a "black rat", and there I stayed fast asleep.
Goodnight Navana, Bella and one black rat!

Monday 16 January 2006

Two more prizes picked up this morning. A few more still to be picked up.

The snow girl has shown a little interest in being friends with Katolat again and he would love to be friends, but leaves her to make up her mind as she has told him off a couple of times.
5pm and she is back in her adjoining pen all tucked up for the night in her nice warm bedroom. She enjoyed her dinner as she had some freshly cooked chicken. Minced chicken brought to the boil and given a good stir, then left to cool for 15 mins. Cold water then added into the middle to cool it down further so as not to over cook it. Then served in its still warm juices, she loved it. We gave all the Boarders and Bengals chicken tonight, although some of the boarders have a choice of another meat, fish or complete in case they don't like the chicken. We know what our regular boarders like.
9pm Final check for this night (we vary the times for security reasons, although we are alarmed). Tim starts at one end of the cattery and I start at the other. All cats are happy, some come out to greet us, just to say Goodnight! Lana's in bed as usual, but rushes down to have a tickle before she goes back to bed, cuddled up with Freeze, Freeze just can't be bothered moving, he's too comfy. We check all boarders and Bengals have water and their heaters are all on and working OK. Marti and Malarki (2 of our Bengals) join us when they can to walk around the cattery and garden with us, they love to be part of it all.
9.15pm Just a few complete bics to graze on in case our visiting snow girl should fancy something to eat in the night as she has eaten every last crumb.
Smokey's out and that's unusual for her so we spent a little time with her having a few words and giving her a tickle - she doesn't like being picked up but she is such a softie, a senior cat who just wants a quiet life, and a few kind words, not to mention the food and tickles. Gilbert has thrown his bedding upside down, what a mess, how does he expect to sleep in that, never mind soon sorted out. Rocky has spilt his water all over his biscuits, I fill up his water and Tim replaces his soggy Oscars complete.
9.55pm Finished, time for a hot chocolate. This time of year the last check doesn't usualy take us so long when both of us are doing it, but sometimes you just like to reasure them that they are loved.

Friday 13 January 2006

Blue Eyed Snow Girl visiting Katolat (Brown Spotted Bengal) today. She had a long drive from Kent this morning but arrived about 8am. She went staight into a pen next to Katolat and made herself comfortable in the sleeping area near the heater in her nice warm bed. Her owner went home after making sure she was happy. We left her to settle in but then noticed that she kept coming out to say hello to Katolat in the next pen. He was definately wondering who this beutiful young cat was. Such blue eyes! Such a lovely coat! Such a confident young lady!
It wasn't long before we felt the time was right to see how they got along. They were fine together and liked each other very much. In no time at all she was happy to go back to her pen having made a new friend called Katolat.
They got along fine and visited with each the following day. Although when Sunday came along then the young cat decided that she would like to be on her own for a couple of days which was fine. Katolat continued to keep her company by talking to her from his exercise area, and she was happy to sit and listen quietly to him, in the knowledge she had made a friend.
