T-boy update - march

We are putting T-boy back onto antibiotics as his wound on his neck is opening up again. Its seems to be a clean wound and the hair has fallen away from the damaged skin area, so we have a clear view of his scar area on his neck. its only on one side of this that its opening up again, but if this doesn't work we will have to have the vet clean up the skin on the wound which will make the opening larger and stitch it up.
Other than this T-boy is looking much better. He seems to be feeling much better also as he is up to mischief now as with most Bengals.

miss p update

Purebliss has received another update from Nicola regarding Miss P................

She is really gaining confidence now...and has her mad run-around in the morning (normally resulting in her hanging off my curtains!).
Chico is also starting to come around...he appears more curious now rather than his previous grumbly moods!

Its so good to know that Miss P is settling well.

Miss P

Miss P had been coming on so well that it was decided that she was well enough to go to her new home on Sunday. I was at show so unfortunately i was unable to meet Nicola in person but we have been in touch since we took Miss P back to be rehomed.

Miss P had a long way to drive to her new home to meet Chico her new friend who is a male Bengal boy who wants a companion to play with.

This was written by Nicola (new owner)........
Miss P/Safi is settling in much better, I think it really helped me being around all day yesterday. She is very confident and has already explored the whole house! Chico is still a bit grumbly but is moving around the house with more confidence and they even touch noses.........
Safi is still over-grooming but it's getting less already, I was worried after her first night as she seemed to have gone into over-drive, but I've been using the spray and keeping everything calm for her and she is already grooming less ........................if I keep things calm give her lots of TLC (and if Chico starts to give her some love) I'm hoping that she'll stop doing it?...........She slept most of the way through last night, she only work me up once at 1am so I sat with her for an hour until she went back to sleep... I'm hoping tonight she'll sleep right through.
She's absolutely adorable!
Its really good to know that Miss P has found such a lovely home.

showtime

Thursday night and a frantic ring round and emails to everyone trying to find a hotel for the show.
Friday morning and a welcome reply from Sue regarding a room still available for Friday and Saturday nights.
Friday pm and all is packed ready for the show. Valour is bathed and smelling wonderful.
A nice peaceful drive down to Swanley.
Book into the Hotel, Valour enjoyed his chicken whilst Leo and Moonwalk sit on the bed with me watching the TV, whilst we share a couple of chicken legs and some prawns. Although i think they got the lions share - he he!
Time for bed for me and Valour whilst Leo and Moonwalk decide its time for fun for the next couple of hours - he he!
I'm simply a trampoline i think. Even when they settle down they decide they like to snuggle up to my head rather than anywhere else. Leo likes to clean skin and then he finishes my hand, then my arm he tries my face. that's when its time to put a stop to it, i don't think my skin can take it. So Leo decides to start to clean Moonwalk all over again. Now its a power struggle on who cleans who. I'm in stitches watching them both, but this isn't getting any sleep.
Saturday Morning - up and out take them all to the show.
Everyone loves the cuddles they have from Leo, he is such a sweetie.
A wonderful day at show catching up with old friends and making new friends.
Purebliss Kudos finals for Stella making him a champion - we are so proud of him being Stella's first champion Bengal.
End of a thoroughly enjoyable day and back to a welcome break at the hotel. A much quieter night and a good nights sleep.
Sunday - another enjoyable day!
many thanks to everyone who gives their time to organising these TICA show for us to enjoy.

Miss P

Miss P is now eating much better and so we anticipate her starting to put more weight on. She isn't as much thin as slim. But she does need more muscle and until she eats more and exercises more she won't put on enough muscle. She loves her raw food and cooked chicken in chicken juices, and she has dry food down all day to graze on, so she is getting back to normal with her diet.
She is still over grooming and pulling out her fur whenever she doesn't have her cuddles, so Miss P must go where there is another cat to play with.

T-boy is coming along nicely. He is due to come off his medication at the weekend and he certainly is looking a lovely boy. we have some pro biotic to put on his food to help his digestion, and he loves his raw food. The rule with raw food is that if its not fresh enough for you to eat then don't give it to your cat. Cats should not eat food that isn't 100% fresh or they will suffer the consequences the same as we do.

Miss P update

Tuesday 17 March '09
Miss P Savannah had a huge shock when she plunged head first into the water we had run for her bath. She surfaced spluttering with her first collision with water. After that she was happy to sit in Tim's arms whilst i soaped her all over and then rinsed her off.
Miss P took delight in sitting all curled up in my arms whilst i towel dried her for half an hour on my lap. She then ran all around the conservator shaking herself at every opportunity, she thought this was great fun.
Barbie Bengal decided to climb up on top of our fridge freezer to stay out of the way of this lunatic cat. Barbie watched her every move with a faint look of amusement on her face. Barbie is so far on with her pregnancy now that she just doesn't have the energy to join in.

Jez has babies

Sunday afternoon and Jez is having contractions. she is such a softie and really doesn't like the pains she is having.
Jez lets out such a scream and thrusts her head under the quilt she has been laying on with me. Here comes a wonderful brown spotted Bengal kitten - the first of 2 brown spotted girls.
After a long night we have our second snow boy born on Monday morning making 4 kittens in total. Jez is so proud of her 4 Bengal kittens, purring away she cuddles around them.
we give her some cooked chicken in chicken juices and she thoroughly enjoys every mouthful. After her refusal to eat during the night we are relieved that she is enjoying this.
And so to bed, i will have a couple of hours rest before getting up to look after our furry family.

T-boy update

T-boy is doing very well, his cough has now gone completely as are his worms, although we will give him another worming session in a couple of weeks time to make sure.
Still in isolation he is desperate for cuddles, and loves to shout and purr at us throughout the day whenever he sees us about the place.
We spend half an hour with him at the end of every day and give him lots of fuss whilst we have a drink, i don't know who enjoys it more - him or us - its so good to see him getting his condition back. His dead hair and dull undercoat is coming out to show his beautiful rosettes all over his body.
He will have to stay on antibiotics for a couple more weeks yet, but its already showing a slight improvement in his motions/stools. A lot less smelly, as well as becoming a little firmer (less like water). Cats should have firm stools.
Bengals always amaze me with their wonderful temperament. They just love to be played with and once they know you are going to play with them they greet you with enthusiasm every time they set eyes on you, and T-boy is no exception.
It so good to have T-boy home again, we loved him as a kitten and we are so pleased he hasn't lost his love and enthusiasm for life - he loves to play.

Miss P

Miss P is a brown spotted Savannah female who we've bought back in. Only in her new home a very short time the new owner decided to put her up for sale without letting me know. Many thanks to all the good people out there that were worried about her and let me know about what was going on in her short kitten life.
We isolated her in a pen for her first night with us, but i just couldn't leave a kitten on her own any longer so we brought her into our kitchen with Barbie.
Wormed and Flea controlled she is still over grooming in patches all over her body on her second day with us. If she continues over grooming i will bath her tomorrow.
Miss P is adorable - a little confused at first made her a little cautious of us giving her attention or going to pick her up. Now in her second day with us she loves to be fussed and picked up for a cuddle.
Miss P has persevered with Barbie and now can get to within 6 inch to lay next to her. Barbie is very interested and so will give in quite soon i think.
Miss P is a bit of a vacuum cleaner in that if its edible it goes into her mouth, sometimes even if its not edible it goes into her mouth so we have to keep our eyes open for that.

T-boy update

Monday 09 March
Panacur for 5 days along with antibiotics all week seem to have stopped T-boys cough and improved his diarrhea.
T-boys fur is improving, although still quiet brittle, the shine is starting to come back on his black markings.
He is cleaning himself all the time and is starting to come towards us for a tickle, and when we pick him up he loves to snuggle his head right into us and tries to get under our jumpers to get closer. Although he still doesn't like strangers to touch him, he comes to the front of his pen to say hello to them. By the time anyone is allowed to touch him he will be more confident I'm sure, he is still in isolation and we walk through foot baths to go in and out of his pen/chalet. Katey isn't allowed near him as she is pregnant, and only Tim and i go into him. When we've spent time playing and cuddling him at the end of the day we put all our clothes for washing.

airport run

6pm - early start today as we have a pick up of 3 cats from Manchester Airport.
Katey arrives and makes a welcome cup of tea for her and Tim, I have cappuccino.

All fed and watered, Tim has also cleaned and mucked out quarantine. Katey will look after everything whilst we're gone.

11am set off for Manchester - cats landed early at 12.15pm - 2.20pm before we managed to get the cats into our hands.
Set off back straight away for Purebliss Quarantine. Good drive home, although with all the traffic we didn't arrive back until 5.15pm.

Tim settles Molly, Millie and Cassie into their chalet whilst I email the owner to let her know we've all arrived back safely and her cats are enjoying their supper.

Katey has done a great job looking after everything whilst we have been away, but she needs to get home now.
Katey has made us a curry to warm up later - what a considerate thing to do!

I spend the next hour feeding and checking kittens, whilst Tim finishes in the cattery.
I then spend the following hour replying to emails. I also have a couple of telephone calls to make.
Its 8am before we get chance to eat, we are very grateful for Katey's curry - Mmmm!

T-boy

Tuesday
Feed and water all the cats and kittens and Tim manages to clean out all of quarantine.
Vicky and Tim go into town to sort out the business cards and postcards for the reopening of White House Boarding Cattery (Holiday Home For Cats). I stay behind to hold the fort so to speak, and continue to muck out the rest of the cats and kittens.
Our Quarantine vet (Richard) visits the quarantine cattery. With the help of his very lovely veterinary nurse he takes bloods from one of the Savannah girls for the rabies titre. He then walks through the quarantine, looking at all the cats to make sure everything is in order.
Enters details in his book about his quarantine visit - a vet visits our quarantine 6 days every week.
Our quarantine vet (Richard) has kindly agreed to take T-boys bloods whilst he is sat on his veterinary nurses knee in our conservatory (apologies for not remembering your name).
I'm given the job of scraping up T-boys very runny poo and filling a specimen jar with it for them to take back to the surgery - yuk - what a smell!
Vicky and Tim manage to arrive back when all is done - he he!
Time for a cup of tea then back to work continuing to clean out the rest of the cats and kittens i didn't get done.
late lunch today as we had to catch up, but it was a welcome break when it came.
