Twiggy update

Twiggy is doing well - ear mites cleaned out, and no fleas - worms seem to have now gone but we'll check that when we have her stools tested for parasites and bacteria. nose swabbed - bacteria found. Twiggy had nose drops and ronaxon tablets for the bacteria in her nose and will stay on ronaxon for a few weeks to clear out the bacteria.
her coat is looking so much better and she is putting on weight. She hates the rain, and hides inside next to her heater when it rains outside. Even when her food comes she won't come out if its raining. however, the minute we take her food into her bedroom she targets it immediately.

We hear Esmerelda is loved in her new home and is doing well - we've sent photos of her whilst she was with us at purebliss.

Stitch - our F1 girl that struggled with Clostridium after having her panacur is running around with Karma and doing well.

Dotty is doing well with her kittens and we can't make up our minds if to keep her brown boy or brown girl at purebliss.

Kitty loves her 2 Bengal babies and mum and babies are doing well, although her baby daughter is still small.

Trinity's Savannah babies are coming along great - they are a stunning litter of savannahs! they are due to go into the kitchen tomorrow to run round and start to meet people.

Tranquility's and Ku's Savannah babies are coming along great - mums and their kittens are doing well.

Twiggy update

we decided to call our little skinny "rescue" cat that Sheryl brought home for us Twiggy - she is very skinny with big eyes, and just adorable.
so far Twiggy has had a Drontal for her worms, Frontline for her fleas, ear mite control in her ears, and also some antibiotics for her crusty nose. she is going to the vet next week as we think she may be pregnant and she is far too thin and out of condition to have kittens.
Twiggy loves her wet food, and eats every little bit that she is given, although she doesn't seem too keen on her dry food.

Ku has had a wonderful litter of brown spotted Savannah kittens - 8 were born but one was dead - 7 still living although one of those is very small but we are topping her up to see if we can save her.

Kitty has had 2 stunning rosetted brown spotted kittens - one boy who is twice the size of the very beautiful girl.

Tranquility is fattening her babies up nicely, as is Dotty.

Tranquility babies

Sheryl kindly collected a Purebliss bengal girl for us that had been advertised on preloved - she is 6 1/2 years old and sold on active for £40 - i will update everyone as to how she comes along.

3 F1 Bengal pets were collected by our courier last night to fly out today - we had a phone call to say they were on their way this morning but i still couldn't sleep - not until i know they are at their new home safe and sound.
Tranquilities wonderful Savannah babies! All brown spotted - wonderful individual black spots! 4 girls and 2 boys! Good girl Tranquility! She is a very restless girl whilst she is giving birth but once her kittens all arrive she is an outstanding mum.

Ku is still holding onto her kittens in her belly but she is a very happy pregnant girl.

Kitty is still holding onto her kittens in her belly also, and she is also a very happy although a restless girl.

Frankie's girl are doing well - loving running around our kitchen with stitch who is the struggling F1 girl that had clostridium. Stitch is having prebiotics everyday, although she won't have it on her food we are giving her directly into her mouth by paste which she takes happily providing she has her treat of a chick afterwards.

surprise present

surprise present from Dotty this morning - a beautiful blue marbled female Bengal kitten - all cleaned and dry snuggling up with her two other kittens born last week. Dotty is so proud to show us and kept a close eye on her whilst we had a look to see what sex she was. Will need to contact TICA to see how we register this litter - do we make two litter registrations for different dates or use the last day of birth for the registration?

Photos to take today of Patti and some kittens - although its fun playing with the kittens trying to get the photos - it takes hours as I'm not very good and have to take hundreds to get a handful that are good enough for site. Try stopping kittens running up you when all you want to do is take photos of them playing individually.
registrations to apply for - not my favourite job. Emails to answer regarding kitten purchasers, and boarding cattery, and welfare issues.
People visiting Wendy and Patti, and Tia, and the black moggie we have available for adoption.
F1 generation kittens to massage - a lovely job but it takes such a long time and there just aren't enough hours in the day.

Saturday - just another day in the cattery

First job for me whilst Tim checks and feeds outside is to check and feed all kittens and mums in the house. Bicky's kittens going today - will be sad to see them go, although it will allow more room for kittens on the bed. Pedigrees to do, microchips to place - but no time - Tim will need to do that for the hand over for Bicky's kits. Our little girl who was neutered yesterday has taken her stitches out - a gaping hole in her side. I'll take this opportunity to have some kittens vaccinated that should have gone earlier in the week. Ring the vet, put her straight into the Jeep and away we go. An hour seems a long time when you are worried, although our little 12 week old Bengal girl couldn't care less. Alistair takes us straight in and takes a look inside to make sure there isn't any dirt or infection in there. He decides everything is OK and we decide to staple her wound this time - a brave little girl just looks up into my eyes as Alistair staples her wound. She then has a real good cuddle and everything is fine again. Kittens vaccinated, and all is well.
Once home Purrsona is back into her bed with a nice warm heat pad to curl up on. A raw chicken wing, and some cat tuna makes her feel much better, and with a full belly she goes to sleep.
Panic over, and back to work - paperwork to do, and F1 generation kittens to massage.
Another day of feeding, watering, and cleaning for Tim.
Then the usual suppertime check and feed, not forgetting to have a good feel of Tranquility - think she may have given us the 5 day warning - her kittens are getting ready to enter the world.
Check on Ku - no contractions but looking good - surely she can't be much longer.
Dotty is looking good with her gorgeous boy and girl, although she seems to have something else inside - maybe she has retained a placenta, or maybe we could be very lucky and have another kitten in there? i will check her again tomorrow morning as she seems happy enough and she doesn't have any discharge or discomfort.
The time has come to put Ruby and Tia for adoption - I booked them in for neutering whilst i was at the vets - it will be a sad day when they go to their new homes. Ruby and Tia gave us some outstanding F1 generation Bengal kittens with tiny ears, whited tummies, and Occelli on the backs of their ears from Bertie ALC, although we have their F2 generation bengal grandchildren to look forward to from Maddie and Rubicon - F2 generation snow bengals - wow - I can't wait!

Friday - just another day at the cattery

First job into the Jeep with a gorgeous 12 weeks old female Bengal. Tim will look after all at the cattery whilst i have an hours drive to the vet to have the Bengal kitten neutered.
I have some shopping to do so i take this opportunity to do my shopping in Boston - then to the supermarket to do another shop there - a quick bite to eat and back to the vet to collect our little girl and take her home. The hour drive is good for her to curl up in her carrier on the front seat next to me - she couldn't get any closer without coming through the cage.
Home and tuck her up in bed with a heat pad in the kitchen whilst I look after the kittens and their mums. Let the F1 kittens out into the kitchen for a run with Frankie's girls.

Check on Tranquility - looks like she has some minor contractions - must keep an eye on her.

Everything is going well and all are happy and fed on our suppertime rounds.

dotty kittens

Dotty stopped with her two gorgeous Bengal kittens - one boy and one girl - the boy may be staying with us at purebliss, we will run him on before making our decision.

Asia's Savannah kittens are doing well - the little boy and girl that were the smallest are now coming along fine.

Frankie's girls are looking really well - they are extremely well defined, and a wonderful texture to their fabulous rosetted coats - they have Frankie's strong skull, and lovely Bengal eyes.

Vicky and Katey have visited today along with our grandchildren so we have relied heavily on our wonderful helpers - Amelia and Pete - they have done a great job in cleaning out all our cats and also cleaned out thoroughly some of our boarding pens after cats have been collected.

our silver spotted Savannah kitten with the eye problem after getting something in it has now gone to his new home - we'll miss him and his loving and mischievous ways. I'm sure Regional Winner SGC Just Jack will miss him also as he looked after him at playtime.

Katey of DC Diagnostics today tested our little F1 generation girl that is struggling and has found her to have Clostridium so we can now give her something to combat that along with Prebiotic. Fingers crossed she will now pick up as she is so loving - me thinks she may be staying as our hearts have gone out to her.

the 3 boys that were castrated yesterday are eating well and show no signs of having had an anaesthetic.

Maddie(F1) and Rubicon (F1) are calling so will have to start keeping an eye on them to make sure they stay well and don't get too frustrated and upset as this can cause ill health in a Bengal.

Supper time for all cats and kittens - this means Tim and I visit each and every cat and kitten in our care to give them supper and check them over. Make sure their heaters are on, and they are settled and happy in bed.

vet visit

despite the winds and rain we still have the vet run to do. 2 early generation Bengal boys to have castrated, and a stunningly rosetted Bengal boy with fabulous nocturnal eyes to have castrated.
An hours drive there, and an hour back makes for a big chunk out of our day but well worth going to a veterinary practice that i know will take care of my kittens when they are neutered at 12 weeks old.
I arrive back to find Tim has delivered Dotty's first kitten - we now have one girl and one boy. She is still having contractions, and although i can feel a kitten inside I can't feel any movement so we'll have to see. Looks like it could be a long night finding out.

This afternoon I was busy hand feeding a couple of struggling kittens, feeding, watering and cleaning kittens and their mums. Also worming to be given to some kittens. Spot On to be given to studs.

now time for rounds to give supper to all boarding cats, and our own cats and kittens, and check that they are all OK.

As usual Tim has done a great job looking after the gorgeous cats spending their holidays with us at Holiday Home For Cats. Its such a joy to us when we see those familiar fury faces come back to see us.

HCM screening

Liz, Carol and I all met at the vet practice, along with Paul our cardiologist - 7 Bengal adults were screened and all screened normal/negative for HCM.
Its really enjoyable when breeders can work together for the future health of the Bengal breed.
we then all drove to carol's for a coffee and chat, not to mention the thrill of seeing my rosetted brown spotted Bengal girl, and all the other wonderful kittens and cats belonging to carol and Andrew at Eriador.
A lovely day with wonderful results for us all.

show weekend

Saturday morning - up bright and early to feed kittens and then get Katey's (BG) boy and my Savannah (SV) boy ready for show. Set off 6.30am for Swanley.
Arrive at show - lots of lovely friends to say hello to.
set up sturdy pen for Leonard (4 month old SV boy).
metal pen is already set up for Ori (Katey's 4 month old BG boy).

A lovely day with lovey judges - the judges were good to our Savannah kitten awarding him a merit in each of his 5 rings - we withdrew from Irene's ring to give him a rest. Jo's Savannah girl was gorgeous and deserved the merits as much as Leonard but Leonard being a boy was taller than she was.

I had a fabulous day running Katey's brown marbled Bengal kitten for her - i was very proud to say he achieved 3 finals on the day.

I was thrilled for Purebliss Pookie - 2nd All Breed Alter, 5th Speciality Alter, and 6th All Breed Alter - he has enough points but he needs more finals to become Grand Champion Alter.

Saturday evening and it was back to the Hilton - dinner with gill was fun - lots to gossip about, and a lovely meal provided by the Hilton.

Sunday was a great day - Leonard had another lovely day with lots of positive feedback, and a merit in each of his 6 rings.

I enjoyed another successful day running Katey's kitten for her, he achieved 4 finals - one of them as best all breed kitten.

The icing on the cake was when Pookie got his finals on Sunday to become a Grand Champion Alter - well done Pookie and Congratulations to Delsa for her wonderful handling of such a gorgeous snow marbled boy - GCA Purebliss Pookie!

so - all in all a great weekend.

relaxed tuesday

Tuesday was a much more relaxed day. Vicky (daughter) and Oliver (grandson) came to visit and Vicky lent a hand with the cats and kittens in the house. And of course we had to have lots of cuddles with Charlie Serval.

also managed to swab another 4 cats (savannahs and Bengals) and send off to Langford for PK(def) test. Also sent for more swabs from Langford to carry out further tests in September.

BBQ weekend

Had a lovely BBQ Saturday with Gill (mike was missed ;-)), Chris, Wendy and their girls, Katey and Joseph (Joseph is now looking forward to seeing Abby again). I have to be honest in that Tim and I were showing Charlie Serval off - he was enjoying running around our enclosure with the F1 Bengal kittens - Just Jack kept his eye on them as he is very protective of his F1 girls.

Sunday was hectic as usual with the usual feeding, watering, and cleaning of cats and kittens.

Monday was a full day of visitors - whilst i was entertaining everyone all day Tim kept busy doing the cleaning and feeding, and watering of cats and kittens.
Finally managed to do some hand feeding with F1 kittens late afternoon once everyone had left - we had to take Esmeralda's kittens away from her as she killed another kitten on Sunday - Dreadful!

Regional Awards

Katey and I had a great day at show on Saturday 23rd August at the TICA regional show - Katey finalled her brown marbled kitten at only 4 months old on the day. I finalled Jack in several rings, and we met up with lots of friends and made new friends.

we had a great evening at the awards dinner held at the Hilton Hotel. What a splendid job was done to make the room look welcoming and special. The awards winners had made up fabulous favours and we each had a bag full so that the fun could be continued after the evening.
I was honoured to receive Just Jack's award for his EW regional win as 8th Best Household Pet, and have my photo taken with his plaque and wonderful rosette which was kindly sponsored by Katey and Malcolm.
Then up again to accept Frankie's award for his EW regional win as 18th Best All Breed Kitten of the year, and have my photo taken with his plaque and gorgeous rosette again generously sponsored by Katey and Malcolm.
Then i was called up again to accept Frankie's award for his EW regional win as 7th Best Short Hair Cat, and also as 15th Best All Breed Cat, and have my photograph taken by Robert Fox with plaque and gorgeous rosette very generously sponsored by Delsa.
Robert Fox was kept busy all night taking photos of the owners of the cats/kittens receiving awards - he did an excellent job, and was as patient as always.

Katey and I had a fabulous night with great company.

Sunday it was showtime again, and Katey had a great day with several finals as did our very own wonderful Jack. Jack enjoyed his weekend at show with all the attention received but is more wobbly than normal so i think he may not go to show for a while. so maybe we will think about showing a little marbled girl next show - a sweet little savannah cross.
we were also able to collect Frankie's certificate for Best Mink Spotted Bengal of our region for the year, and also his certificate for 3rd Best Bengal Cat for our region of the year.

We can't put into words how proud and honoured we feel to have Frankie and Jack as part of our family.

decided to put both kelpie and kitty in with Ryme N Reason - then changed it again - just couldn't make our mind up until the very last minute.
Kelpie went to Ryme N Reason - he was very pleased to see her!
Kitty went to Ronnie - he was a little less pleased to see her as the first thing she did was stand there and tell him off well and truly.

vet results on Danny's kidney - kidney failure - no hidden agenda here. vet says that if only he had 2 kidneys he would have been OK. His one kidney was very large but was definitely only one and not two together. so no real answer but at least we know that there wasn't an hereditary factor.

sent our first 4 swabs off to Langford testing for PK (def) - will send 4 at a time.

packing everything up ready to set off for show.

checked ruby and found she has pinked up so she is about 2 weeks pregnant to Bertie ALC - she must have caught on as soon as she went in. will leave her in to cuddle up with him as they love each other.

Silver girl arrived safely in Norway yesterday - I'm always on edge until i get confirmation that any kitten flying abroad has arrived safely.

Lil'un is doing well with no sign of her prolapse coming back - i can't tell you have relived we are. She is running around our dinning room with the draining board kittens having lots of fun. The draining board kittens are 2 savannahs kittens that we hand fed from birth.

katey poo sampled kelpie and kitty ready to go to stud - kitty is going with Ronnie, and Kelpie is going with Ryme N Reason.

Pedigrees made up, and emailed to buyers along with the pet passports for Bengals and Savannahs going abroad next month.

Collecting Danny's results from vets tomorrow so finally we hope to have an answer to his kidney failure.

Looking forward to the show at the weekend - taking jack and tick tock, and Katey is taking her brown boy.

Had a lovely weekend at show - great to see old friends again. Tick Tock finalled twice - once as 3rd Best All Breed Kitten, and once as 5th All Breed Kitten, but even better than that was that she turned from an opinionated hooligan to a sweet little lady - what a transformation! Maybe we should think about changing her pet name from "Gobby" to something more ladylike.

A tragic weekend for some exhibitors at show when their cat collapsed after arrival and later their loss of their cat - my heart goes out to them - Its heartbreaking when these losses occur and we need to support each other during these difficult times.

Glads is still recovering well, as is our lil'un with the prolapse.

Esmeralda still loves the 3 F1 kittens she has left, although i would prefer her to spend a little more time with them than she does.

Ruby and Tia's F1 babies are so beautiful, loving and playful that we are seriously thinking of putting Ruby and Tia back with Bertie. Even though we said they would only go to him Ruby and Tia looked after them so well we think we may let them have another litter of F1 Bengal kittens to Bertie. We'll put some more thought to this whilst they have their rest time.

Made the decision to reduce the silver lines in our savannahs, so will neuter Metallica in next couple of weeks.
Also made the decision that we need to neuter Monkey to allow room for another Savannah stud to be kept - will keep Monkey to run around the garden - maybe take him to show later this year.

hell of a week!

its been a nightmare of a week:
Esmeralda killed 2 of her female F1 kittens.
Glad Rags had to have a C Section, and we lost all her kittens.
But by far the worst thing was us having to have Danny put down. Danny our Savannah stud had massive renal failure. we've had his one and only huge kidney sent off for analysis to see why - why, why, why!

on the plus side of things our lil girl with the prolapse is doing well, and although she now has a huge anus she is managing to keep things inside so we feel very positive about her future.

also on the plus side is that Esmeralda is looking after her remaining three kittens very well.

and another plus is that Glad rags is doing well after her op.

I'm really looking forward to going to show to spend time with Friends and their gorgeous cats and kittens.
I'm taking Tick Tock - or should i say "Gobby!"

Lil'un is doing good - she had to be opened up and have it all stitched back into place so she has her belly all stitched up - she also has a stitch in her anus to help prevent it opening up too much - we take this out in a weeks time. Vet says we will know if its been successful if she has kept it all in for a couple of weeks which will give her time to grow.
She wants more cuddles then ever before - but as i see it - if I'm on my computer then we can both enjoy a cuddle.
I'm so relieved she is doing well.

what a day

had a busy morning today with the usual feeding, and cleaning. Then out of the blue comes screams from one of our snow Bengals that we are running on. not sure what is going on at first until we look at her rear end - anal prolapse - a really large one.
Oh my goodness how i hate to cause any discomfort to any of my fury family. I Ring the vet to talk about it whilst Tim goes for some warm water, clean dry towel, gloves, and olive oil.
Our vet confirms what we know to be the correct thing to do. She is so good as she lays in my lap with Tim holding her firm - reassuring her all the time - i gradually push it all back in - once its nearly all in it seems to go in much easier - then finally its done - all back in with hardly any blood at all.
She seems to be so relieved but she is still shaking - she cuddles up into my lap and just keeps looking into my face. I can't bear to place her down, and just sit and cuddle her for a time whilst Tim brings a carrier with a heat pad in to sit her on, and she clings to the heat. She stops shaking and seems to go to sleep - yeah right! as soon as we move to stand up she puts her head back and screams. so down i sit next to her and put my hand in the reassure her again - she closes her eyes and i decide i will sit with her for an hour so i take her into the lounge and we watch a film.
I realise she won't let me out of her site as everytime i try she screams, so i take her into the study and she sits on my lap whilst i go on the computer, and she is curled up on my lap now. Eyes closed, paws tucked under her, all cosy and warm on my lap. Every time i reach down and touch her she replies with a lovely soft purrrrrr. No food for you tonight lady, but she doesn't seem to mind, she just needs some reassurance for now.
I've no idea what will happen tonight but i suspect she will spend the night in bed with me. She is settled and happy, although it seems to have knocked her confidence somewhat.
Tomorrow she will visit the vet with me as i am taking some kittens for castration and vaccinations.

Bristol show

Had a fabulous weekend staying with Paul, Theresa and their wonderful family. I travelled down on Friday and after a 5 hour journey spent a lovely evening with them. Saturday - we were all up and out and showing our cats at a wonderful TICA show in Bristol - great to catch up with Friends and see all the stunning cats and kittens being shown. Frankie did extremely well and finalled in all 6 rings - i was very honoured for Frankie to be finalled as 2nd Best SH Cat by Sue in her solo ring. Frankie did even better on Sunday by finalling in all 6 rings - twice as BEST CAT - and also was finalled by Pascal Remy as his 2nd Best Tabby Cat in his tabby congress. Fabulous weekend - very proud of Frankie who now has his BEST CAT final for his supreme title. Home - drove home on Sunday - Tim had done a fabulous job as usual making sure everything runs smoothly at home. AM - Vet run this morning first thing with Sandy - vet kept her in on a drip and took bloods. Back to look after the kittens and their mums, and the pregnant Bengals and savannahs. We have to keep a close eye on Ruby, Tia, and Split who are expecting to our new boy Bertie, and also on Alca our female ALC. PM - Prepare 5 chickens and mince them - cook minced chicken in water for the weaning kittens. Prepare the hearts for ALCs and Jim serval for their dinner. Sandy is staying in the vets until tomorrow as its an hour drive and its now too late for me to collect her. taken photos of a couple of Iiusions Savannah kittens - not enough time to take photos of the rest of her litter. Photos taken of some of the kittens reserved and sent to their future families. Dinner - Chip butties and salad tonight courtesy of Tim - he makes lovely home made chips and there isn't time for anything else tonight. Friday - First jobs of the morning are checking on the pregnant girls, then feed the weaning kittens and their mum, then feed all the lactating queens whose kitten aren't old enough to wean. Vet Visit - I hardly started on my jobs before Tim came running in - one of our much loved regular boarding cats wasn't his normal self. I rang our boarder's owner's vet to let them know i was on my way in with their patient whilst Tim took out a hot water bottle and carrier to put him in for his journey. Tim took over checking my pregnant girls and lactating queens as well as his checks on all our boarders whilst i went to the vets. He had another incident whilst at the vets being checked over and so they kept him in to be put on a drip and check him over to see what they could find. He had eaten his wet supper the previous night, but hadn't touched his dry that is left over night for him to graze on, nor had he touched his water. Rest of the day - Back from the vet and finish feeding the kittens and their mums. Then answer a few emails, and update some of the information on site. Put the kettle on and ring the vet - too early for them to tell me much yet so i will give them a couple more hours. Evening - vet decided to keep the boy in and keep him on a drip. Jacky

6am - zaynar had her first kitten - a gorgeous blue spotted boy. 9am - we delivered zaynars second kitten - a gorgeous blue spotted boy. it was about 11am when we were making the decision to ring the vet to arrange a section - zaynar collapsed in a heap - very tired, and bleeding quite a lot from her rear. By the time we had found a vet suitable to carry out a section and arranged to go, and replaced the phone, zaynar suddenly stood up and pushed with all her might - out popped a deformed kitten mix placenta - this was obviously were the blood was coming from. we quickly rang the vet and cancelled our emergency. then we waited, and we waited, and we waited. Zaynar laid on a fluffy blanket on my knee for lunchtime, and most of the afternoon. 4pm - zaynar had another kitten but this time it was dead, and showed signs of having been dead for some time. This is the sad part of breeding when things go wrong. Zaynar is very tired but happy to cuddle up to us and have a rest. we now wait for the next kitten. Some cats take longer than others to deliver their kittens and when they have dead kittens inside, the queens loose some of the urge to push out kittens, so it takes time and patience, and lots of love and care to get them through it. We cuddled zaynar for the next few hours and she delivered a lovely blue spotted boy, but she was very tired, and couldn't deliver the placenta. We decided a "c section was neccessary as she found this last kitten nearly immpossible to deliver, and there was obviously something left in her as well as the placenta from the last kitten. The vets were very good and whilst carrying out the "C Section" they also neutered her. Zaynar will now live her life as a much loved pet. Tuesday - everything is flowing along nicely - kittens and mums all doing well. Zaynar is feeling her time is near and keeps calling me over. She just wants her belly rubbed as she lays on her back. Having great cuddles with Penelope as her time draws closer. As always she is like a rugby ball, she puts both paws up - one on each shoulder and she cuddles and rubs. She just cannot stay still and her love doesn't go unappreciated. Taking lots of photos of kittens today - Glad Rags kits, Esmereldas kits, Enchantments kits. Glad Rags kittens, and Enchantments kittens are all tucking into their sloppy cooked chicken - they love it. They are 4 weeks old and mum is teaching them to use their litter trays. brigg show

had a fabulous weekend at the Brigg TICA show. Saturday. My daughter Katey, ran Just Jack of Purebliss on 26th March and supremed him in Pascal Remy's ring as Best Household Pet. Jack finalled in all 5 rings on the Saturday, and he was up against some gorgeous household pets with fabulous temperaments, and personalities and that's what a household pet is all about - loving, playful, friendly natures with wonderful personalities. The judges are lovely with our household pets and handle them with great care and understanding. As many of you know, Jack is shown as a household pet due to his brain damage, so he can be a little wobbly at times, but the judges take good care of him when judging. Also, the other household pet owners have welcomed Jack, Katey and me with open hearts and into their world of showing household pets and i can honestly say its a real pleasure to be with them. GC Purebliss Pleasuredome (aka Frankie) finalled in 4 out of the 5 rings on Saturday making him a Double Grand Champion. we met up with some good friends as we always do at these fabulous TICA shows, and also made new friends. Sunday Jack was finalled in all 5 rings again - its such a shame when the household pets have to be knocked out and not finalled, but we can't help being proud of Jack. Frankie finalled in 4 out of 5 rings again, and although Genevieve didn't final him she did give him 2nd Best of Breed. We were honoured that sue gave Frankie her Best Shorthair Cat award in her solo ring. Sunday Evening Tally started contractions - Tally is Chris and Wendy's girl from poshpaws - staying with us whilst Chris and Wendy's grandson grows a little. Although Tally was a wonderful mum, she didn't break the first bag so it meant i couldn't leave her. Best thing was to take her up to bed, so she joined me for the night in bed along with the TV. She was wonderful if not a little too fond of waking me up if i dare fall asleep for a second. Tally had her last kitten about 4am this morning. 2 snow spotted, 1 silver spotted, and 1 brown spotted Bengal kitten - all gorgeous healthy kittens all at their mothers milk bar. Tally is a wonderful mum and piles them all up in the corner of her birthing box when she leaves them - not a sound is heard from her contented kittens. Another sleepless night, but well worth it. What excitement we have at Purebliss!
Alca - our ALC is pregnant! This will be Alca's first litter of F1 Bengals, in fact these will be the first F1 kittens born at Purebliss.

Purebliss have a waiting list for F1 pet males, and also females for breeding with, although there will always be Bertie's kittens with Tia (rosetted brown spotted), and Ruby (seal spotted lynx).

sleepless night for me and Tim last night with panashe and her kittens but well worth it when you see them all curled up together this morning.
2 boys and 2 girls with stunning rosetting already showing.

Giving extra cuddles to Sandy (brown bengal female) - thinking she would be ideal to team up with FrankieF2 ready for when Val leaves her. FrankieF2 will miss Val so much when she leaves us that we fear she may fret so if we can team her up with Sandy who is desperately looking for a team mate, and we can do this before Val leaves us this will make life much easier for FrankieF2.
Sandy is responding so well to all the cuddles she is getting, but she didn't like Valour at all, so we will have to think about bringing Valour into the conservatory to mate her next time she comes into call.
Must get some photos taken for our site.

Starting Enchantments and Sonics kittens on sloppy cooked chicken today - they are so ready. Sonic is having difficulties keeping her kittens in their birthing box and keeps having to go and bring them back. Sonic is so gentle when she takes their full heads into her mouth to bring them back. You never hear a cross word from her - she loves her babies so much and you can see the panic in her face when she is racing after them.

Tim made the birthing boxes for Zaynar, and Kelpie (must get some photos of Kelpie for our queens page). More birthing boxes for Chris and Wendy's Tally and Hello Kittie ready for their births - hope its not tonight!

FrankieF2

things are progressing well with FrankieF2 and her pregnancy. She is now relaxed and hasn't had discharge for a couple of day - so fingers crossed everything is going to be OK. We will need to keep our eye on her. She is enjoying mothering Val who is a seal marbled lynx girl waiting to go to Theresa.

Its been a very busy week this week so far:

Monday:
Carol and her daughter Katy came down from Scotland for a flying visit to take back a very pregnant girl of Katy's - SGC Purebliss Glacier did his usual fine job.
Carol and Katy left one of their stunning rosetted brown spotted girls to visit QGC Purebliss Valour.
Hospital visit for me the rest of the day.

Monday night:
Up all night with Dotty in Labour - we are looking after Dotty for Chris and wendy of poshpaws at the present time.

Tuesday:
Dotty has had two gorgeous healthy Bengal babies. Her last kitten came out this morning but unfortunately he didn't make it. A huge boy but it just took too long to get him out, and he was dead before he got to us.

Visitors today looking at Savannah kittens.
Lots of telephone enquires and email enquires to answer.

Tuesday night:
another sleepless night - Panashe had her first litter to Frankie - 4 stunning kittens born.
I really will have to have some sleep soon.

Frankie was very stressy this morning - no idea what was worrying her but she worries about nothing sometimes.
usual looking after kittens and their mums for me, and then some pen cleaning this afternoon.
Kept looking in on Frankie - she spends her days in our kitchen with Valkyrie, now Valporessa (snow marbled girl going to Theresa for showing next month).
Frankie is having discharge now along with minor contractions - far too early for her to have her Bengal babies - its so sad.
I'm going to spend the rest of the evening and night with her so bye for now.

we are in amongst it all at Purebliss - lots of kittens born and we are loving every minute of it.

Esmerelda's kittens are coming along nicely and Sharon is having Esmerelda's female lynx - that leaves a rosetted mink spotted female, and 2 mink spotted males - one of these boys especially has gorgeous pearl dusting on his gorgeous rosetting.

Enchantments kittens are coming along nicely - one of her females is reserved for breeding leaving 2 gorgeous rosetted brown spotted boys with lots of glitter, and 2 stunning girls with lots of glitter over their lovely rosetted brown spots.

Glad Rags girl is gorgeous and would make a wonderful addition to a family, not to mention her stunning boys with their glitter sprinkled over their wonderful rosetted brown spots - what stunning pet these boys would make.

Sonic still has her savannah girl available, although we've decided to keep her fabulous snow savannah male kitten here at purebliss.

we only have one snow spotted savannah outcross kitten left available for reservation now, what a stunning litter this is.

we collected 3 pregnant girls from good friends over the weekend that are also Bengal breeders and look forward to helping them through their births. Our daughter Katey also brought back a pregnant snow girl from them and i know she is looking forward to seeing the birth of these gorgeous kittens. so keep looking on our site for these stunning kittens when they are born - we will post photos of them and although they won't be our prefix we will still love them nevertheless.

Esmerelda - 08 march '11

Another night with little sleep but all work it.
After Esmeralda's first litter we debated if we should let her have another litter but we are so pleased we did.

With her first litter she suffered bruising to her nerves which caused her to be unable to urinate without us expressing her bladder. we had to carry her about and look after her and help her look after her kittens. This time she had a slow birth, she took her time and we helped her all we could with massage, and reassuring her continuously.

Esmeralda has 4 wonderful, healthy snow Bengal babies - 3 mink and 1 lynx - last one born 7 March. She kept me up all last night helping her take care of her babies - she kept coming to me to take me to her kittens when they became restless.
Esmeralda has no problems this time.

Sorry to those of you who follow my blog but the nursing and loss of our wonderful Naughty left us somewhat numb, and unable to talk about him whilst he was deteriorating. Everytime i came to write my blog i could only think of Naughty although i didn't wish to share my grief. Its been several weeks since he died and he is buried under our front lawn so we speak to him often as we pass him. He will always be with us and was and is a massive part of our lives at Purebliss.

Navahoe update - 16th November

Had a great weekend at the Elsacar TICA show with Frankie - he loved it.

We had some food donations for Navahoe after Gill Heaton (sat) and Val Davidson (sun) kindly took the microphone and put out an appeal - my thanks to gill and val who both did a great job.
we had some promises of food to be taken to the next TICA show - I'll collect them there.

Dr Katey Bliss-Brown of DC Diagnostics kindly screened him negative FREE OF CHARGE for parasites such as isospra, tf, giardia, worms. Dr Katey Bliss-Brown has also offered to carry out a nasal swab FREE OF CHARGE.

Navahoe is enjoying life, and is using his legs more and more. His nickname seems to be "dustbin" as he will eat whatever you put in front of him - dry or wet.

Navahoe update

Yesterday (9 November)
Navahoe had his first hour in our garden - he may not stretch his back legs out properly but my goodness he can move fast when he wants to.
Navahoe really enjoyed himself trying to outwit Tim, and it was a pleasure seeing Navahoe search around the area - he loved the chickens and was drawn to them most of the time. We did manage to get him to play with some twigs for a few minutes but he preferred being with the chickens. Tim then scooped him up in his arms and Navahoe went back to his pen and straight to his biscuit, then to bed for a rest.

Navahoe is a lovely boy who just sits there when you hold him in your arms for a cuddle - at no time has this boy shown any aggresion to anyone or anything.

Navahoe update - 7/11/10

Sunday 7th November '10
Navahoe is gaining confidence in us and now comes running out to see us every chance he gets. yes, he has problems with his back legs but with help, massage, and time, he will gain strength in his good legs, then we can turn some of the flab into muscle.

Navahoe shows his happiness with his gentle nudging, and purring when he comes for his cuddles. He's also starting to groom himself which is a good sign, although we will continue to comb/brush him out as he enjoys the attention.

Navahoe deserves a chance at the happiness he can have as a pet.

Last night was the night for fireworks - Tim did regular checks but the fireworks had all but stopped by midnight.

6.04pm - fireworks have started again - hopefully they will have stopped by midnight again.

Tim has just got back from checking all the cats and everyone seems happy.

It rained last night here so that meant we didn't hear fireworks once it started to rain and we could go to bed knowing the cats were happy and content.

It's a clear bright day today - maybe that means we will have good weather tonight for the bonfires and fireworks. I don't want to stop people having fun at a properly run bonfire party - i hope everyone at carefully run bonfire events have a wonderful night tonight. Although i wish we didn't have to spend all night tonight and any other night this week checking on cats and kittens in our care and worrying about what adults and children are going to do with their fireworks.

Bonfire Night

Another Bonfire Night - yuk!
Like many breeders and pet owners we hate and dread November 5th - we have a long night ahead of us - checking all the cats boarding with us as well as our own cats.
some take it in their stride whilst others are terrified.
we have some children in the fields behind us enjoying throwing bangers about - do they have any idea how much fear they cause or do they even care!
On the other side of us we have people having fun with fireworks - well away from their own house for safety - so that means nearer our garden and cats.
Fingers crossed our pregnant girls will survive the night!

Navahoe update

your heart goes out to this boy! He always comes forward from his bedroom for his breakfast but this morning he was struggling - he couldn't get his back legs out of his bed so he just kept coming, dragging his bed along with him - his bed didn't fit through the cat flap but he still kept trying.
Tim sorted him out and Navahoe enjoyed some attention being paid him - this boy just loves a cuddle/tickle/scratch.
Navahoe still doesn't use his good back leg as the muscles will take a long time to build up, but he keeps trying to stand on it to get a better view.
He is having L-lysine on his food daily and eats it no problem along with his prescribed medication.

Sheryl has just left after dropping Navahoe off with us.
Navahoe stopped off on the journey for a wash and brush up with one of the wonderful girls that have played a vital part in bringing this special boy to us at Purebliss.
Navahoe is still purring despite his journey - he has no idea what is happening to him yet he is still showing a sweet nature. Although he can't stand on his bad leg properly, he holds that up high and tries to stand on his other back leg to see what is going on in the cattery.

we will up date everyone with Navahoes journey to become a special family pet.

esmerelda update

Esmeralda came through her troubles with flying colours. She did eventually loose her milk, but we were there to feed her babies for her. All her Bengal babies except her small lynx girl weaned well - no problems.
we kept hand feeding lil' girl until she was 7 weeks old, and then she finally started eating properly on her own. By the time she was 8 weeks old she was eating dry and wet food on her own, although she still liked to come and sit on our shoulders or chest to have a night/supper feed.

We had to take Esmeralda to the vet - she lost interest in eating or drinking. She doesn't seem to have enough milk so we are topping her kittens up 4 times daily.
Esmeralda was given antibiotics, steroid, and fluids under her skin. We continued to give her 20ml of fluid under her skin twice daily, along with antibiotics daily.
After 24 hours she was much better, after 2 days we halved the fluids, and after 3 days we stopped the fluids. we are still having to express her bladder twice daily which she seems to be used to now, and is ready and waiting for us to do it.

Friday 11 June '10
Esmerelda loves her babies and they are doing well - we are still giving them milk twice daily.
Esmerelda is still on antibiotics, and having her bladder expressed twice daily.

thunder and lightening

Saturday night and time for bed.
Tim was very good - he didn't wake me up until 4.30am when her first kitten was being born.
Tim had been keeping Esmeralda company through the thunder and lightening since 2.30am when she woke him up. She wasn't due until the 10th, but it looked like they were coming early.
Tim went out for some boxes and made up a birthing box for Esmeralda at about 3am in plenty of time for her first kitten to be born.
1st born - Breach birth - gorgeous snow lynx male Bengal baby - 10 mins later out came the placenta.
2nd born - breach birth - gorgeous snow mink female Bengal baby followed by her placenta.
3rd born - breach birth - wonderful snow lynx female Bengal baby followed closely by her placenta - all skin and bone but determined to survive.
4th born - breach birth - gorgeous snow mink male Bengal baby - 5 mins later came his placenta.
5th born - breach birth - wonderful snow mink male baby along with his placenta - all skin and bone but determined to survive.
All 5 breach birth, all 4 days early, but all doing well.
He just managed to come out in time for us to quickly finish getting ready to go to Joseph's christening.
Fran arrives at the cattery - she is looking after everything for us until we get back.
Then we are on our way by 9am.

boarders

I was making our morning coffee when suddenly i was greeted by Sara of Kelsar rushing past me - i put two more teas on to mash. As i walked out to help with the penning of Kelsar Bengals for their holiday with us - I was too late as Tim and Kelly were already bringing the cat carriers back to the car.
we all have our drinks and then there is no holding Kelly and Sara - they are so happy to help out, and the cats and kittens love them.
We thoroughly enjoyed our usual treat of a full English breakfast for lunch - Sara loves to feed us up when she visits.
Jack enjoyed making new friends and even found his courage to stand on his hind legs to view what Sara and Kelly were eating from the patio tables.
After a rewarding days work we all stayed outside with jack and Phoenix in their play area for our selection of Chinese and Indian food - yummy!

trinity and tranquility

Yesterday one of the brown spotted kittens from tranquility kept sneaking out of the birthing box, and then he would go straight back in.
Today he is out with his mum as we approach the kitten room. Tim puts breakfast down for the girls and he stays by his mothers side - his little body trembling in anticipation of ? - is it excitement - or just a wobbly body? who knows but i suspect there will be no stopping him now. He doesn't leave his mothers side even when we go in with them - he sticks by her side. we look at the birthing box and there are 5 other faces looking out - I wonder who will be next out! the others are curled up asleep at the back.

Sunday 8am - After yesterday's success we went to feed the snow boy thats with Luvalot with hopes that he wouldn't need any milk from us - he was already content and his tummy appeared full, although he took a few little sips of milk. Well done Luvalot - its taken a long time for her to develop enough milk for an extra kitten but it looks like she's finally done it.
Luvalot loves him like her own.
I'll check on him again lunchtime, and this evening to make sure he's getting enough. This boy is staying with Purebliss for us to run him on. He is such a treasure!

tube feeding

finally tried tube feeding for the first time on my own - what a success! I've always been so frightened incase I damaged the kitten with tube feeding, or put it into the lungs instead of the stomach. I measured the length of the tube against the kitten and then down it went into their stomachs. Down the tube the milk went into the stomach without any problems and the kitten was immediately content with a full tummy of milk.
Then back to Luvalot for her to clean toilet them, and look after them until next feed.
Luvalot is doing a great job of looking after sugars kittens between feeds, she then takes them through the night to give us a good night's sleep.
we are hoping that Luvalot will get enough milk in so that we don't have to feed them, but we'll give her all the help she needs.

sugar rush

Awake all night with Sugar Rush.
It must have been midnight when we had a wonderful, if not rather large, snow boy born. No idea what his markings were when he was still wet from his birth, but once he was dry and in the half light of the night light, you could see his rosettes already.
By the morning light we had a wonderful female born, although very small.

Sugar's milk came in and she kept looking after them but wasn't settled. On examination she still had a kitten in her, but these things sometimes take a little longer than we would like and she wasn't in distress, so we decided to wait a little.

At 8.30am we rang our vet - could he have a look at her - no movement from the kitten - mother making no effort to push the last kitten out - our thoughts were that the kitten might be dead, but we needed a scan to tell if there was a heartbeat or not.

Its an hour drive to our vet in Boston, so we set off straight away. On arrival we met another breeder waiting to see Alistair, so we accompanied them.
After Alistair had examined Correna's gorgeous snow girl i brought in Sugar from the car. Alistair allows us to keep our cats away from the other animals and bring them in by a side door. its much less stressful for them, and there is less chance of them catching something. Lets face it - animals that go to a vet are often ill.

The dead kitten was removed from Sugar and after a discussion with our vet it was decided that the best thing would be to neuter her. We are so disappointed that we have had to take Sugar out of our breeding programme after only one litter, but Purebliss always take the advise of our vet in matters of health.

Sugar will stay with Purebliss until her kittens are 4 months old, and then we will find her a pet home where she can receive lots of love and playtimes.

BQ weekend

Had a wonderful family weekend - BBQ to celebrate Vicky's 32nd birthday - we all have a great time!
Jack is our brain damaged cat that runs around one of our play area's where we have our BBQ - he loved it - he kept stealing bits and pieces, thinking we didn't notice - he may have his problems, but he is such a lovely boy with a heart of gold.

sometimes things go wrong as breeding isn't an exact science, but even when things aren't quite 100% with a kitten like Jack he makes a wonderful pet, and we love him dearly.

breeders lunch

Had a great lunch at the Ship pub and then continued on to visit with Carol and Andrew.
i don't think we stopped talking about cats all the time we were together - although maybe a few words about pregnant daughters and babies along the way :-)
Had a thoroughly enjoyable time at Eriador Bengals - cat cuddling - kitten cuddling and lots of talk about cats and kittens.

The icing on the cake was Penelope's kittens - how gorgeous are they! Whilst we were out Tim delivered 5 wonderful Savannah outcross babies - SNOW CARRIERS! One of these beauties will definitely be staying with Purebliss!

Tuesday - a great day out - met up with Vicky (our daughter) in Nottingham to find her birthday present. we had a lovely lunch/day out but no birthday present was found. Not to worry, there is always another day to find her present.

Wednesday - morning paperwork, and emails.
Trevor of Teamo Blossom Bengals came over for coffee and microchipping kittens.
Katey called in with Joseph (my grandson), and we all had a sandwich and coffee. Then we went to buy Vicky's birthday present - we found some lovely sandals for her - must find a scarf that compliments them and her new dress.
Bought an apple tree to be planted for Joseph's christening.

screening and visits

Hectic week as always trying to fit everything in.
Our priority always has to be looking after the health and welfare of our cats and kittens, and that includes fitting in time to have the usual tests and screenings carried out.
Last week it was random poo samples and also some blood tests. This week its screening for abnormalities in the heart which is usually called HCM screening, although this screening includes all abnormalities.
Timmy was his normal chilled out self, and laid down on Sue's table quite happy for her to carry out the full screening without any sedation. Same with Valour, not a care. And with Iduvi (aka dinky) at well over 5 years old our frail little dinky laid down for a full HCM screening. We thought hard and long before putting dinky through this but after talking with Sue about her we decided that we would see how she went, and if it was too stressful we would stop. Dinky runs around our garden and cattery at Purebliss, a retired, neutered bengal queen - she came back to us to live due to becoming incontinent. Although quite frail, she has a happy and full life with us, there is always someone available during the day to give her a tickle.
Once home, we sent off their results to the FAB site.

Its always good to meet up with like minded breeders and catch up. What do we find to talk about! The future of the breed - that usually takes up plenty of time.
Then there is the Who's doing what to whom and why! that usually doesn't take up too much time as its usually about threats and/or money, and usually the same people that are trying to hurt people or the breed.
Then there is which girl is going to which boy during the year - this can take a considerable time due to the changing of minds or one of us trying to change the mind of the other.
Then of course we can't forget the showing which surprisingly doesn't take up too much time as we often see each other at shows anyway.
Occasionally one of us may have some sad news and we try to support each other as and when we can - but to be fair we don't need to wait to meet up to help each other out - we are always on the end of a phone for each other.
There just aren't enough hours in the day to cover much more.

Tracy and Ivan collected their gorgeous savannah girl, and we had a lovely afternoon catching up - do we have anything left to talk about after all those email? surprisingly, yes we do!

Chris and Wendy of Poshpaws were welcome as always over the weekend, not to mention his great curries - you can come again!

Its always a pleasure to see Carol of Eriador, we just never tire of talking pedigrees, matings, bengals, savannahs, and so it goes on.

It was a pleasure as always to see Alison of Purebengals to chat and look after her gorgeous girl.

I even squeezed time in for hospital visits, doctors visits, and even visited mum in Leeds.
my goodness what a busy week.
how lucky we are that Purebliss is a family affair. Fran and Amelia are a godsend in looking after the cleanliness of the cats in boarding with Holiday Home For Cats and in the Purebliss breeding.

a normal busy week with hospital visits slotting in between looking after cats, mums and their kittens.
Illusions Savannah kittens are coming on well, although illusion is being her usual demanding mother and not allowing her babies to start weaning - she expects them to always stay at her milk bar, and stay plump puddings.
Sensations Bengal babies are doing well and sensation is enjoying looking after her babies and letting her mum join in looking after them, along with asking Tim to also join in during the night.

Taken random poo samples to the vet in order to ensure there aren't any parasites lurking anywhere - all came back negative for any parasites which is always reassuring.

Blood samples taken for a couple of the queens and a stud staying with Purebliss this year in our breeding programme to help ensure healthy kittens - FIV and FelV negative.

showtime 6th & 7th March '10

Friday 5th March
All work done, so its time to bath Naughty. He is such a good boy in our bath being soaped all over and then rinsed off - he loves it in the bath, he seems to like it much better than in the sink. A good towel dry then on to the hair dryer - he is such a good boy and loves all the attention.
Once Naughty is dry its time to clip claws of Naughty and Rocky. Check our records for the dates of their flea control, then collect their vaccination cards for the show.
Pack up the car, and put Naughty in the back of the estate as he will probably spray during the journey. Rocky goes into the front with me as its his first time away from home since he went to the vet for his vaccinations.
Packed lunch for Saturday as there isn't any facilities for lunches at the show venue.
Off we go ready for just over a 2 and half hour journey. We didn't know about all the road works, and also we met lots of traffic from the start of our journey on the A1 until we arrived at Leigh, so the journey took well over 3 hours.
Not to worry, the hotel staff were lovely on our arrival, and we unpacked into our lovely clean hotel room.
Down to dinner and joined by Lyn and her good friend - its always a joy to meet lovely new people. An enjoyable evening with wonderful company and a delicious meal and lots of cat chat.
Back up to my room to join Rocky and Naughty. They had eaten their dinners so i gave them some biscuits to eat. Then bedtime for us all - the boys need their beauty sleep ready for their show tomorrow.
Saturday/Sunday
The show was a definite success - a wonderful friendly atmosphere, and everyone was there to enjoy each others company and spend time with some amazing cats and kittens. We met many old friends, and made some new friends. The judges were great and took the time to expain their preferences for judging our cats and kittens.
Saturday 6th March:
Naughty finalled as 2nd best cat in a ring of all breeds of cats.
Rocky finalled as 4th best kitten speciality - up against all short haired kitten breeds.
and also 8th best kitten in a ring of all breeds of kittens.
Leo the silver spotted Savannah was being shown by Carol and Richard with their usual enthusiasm, and loving attention. We don't know what upset Leo in show, but he still performed beautifully, although without the normal eagerness for cuddles he normally shows with the judges. Leo showed his normal grace, and beauty gaining 6 merits on the Saturday.
Sunday 7th March:
Naughty finalled as 2nd best cat - all breeds
and also finalled as 5th best cat - all breeds.
These finals gave Naughty enough points and enough finals to make him a grand champion. To say we were thrilled was an understatement. Naughty behaved wonderfully and enjoyed his show weekend immensely. He loved meeting everyone and having lots of cuddles with new friends and old.
Rocky finalled as 6th best kitten - all breeds
also another 6th best kitten - all breeds
also as 8th best kitten against all breeds.
Although he started the show quiet shy, by Saturday afternoon he was getting used to the show world, and by Sunday lunchtime he had learned to enjoy showtime.
Nev finalled as 2nd best kitten in an all breed class
also as 4th best kitten in another all breed class
also as 9th best kitten - all breeds.
The best ring was when Purebliss Nevica Isis (aka Nev) was given Best of Breed Bengal kitten. Purebliss Hotrocks (aka Rocky) was given 2nd Best of Breed Bengal kitten. Mistymogwai Spiralice Nebula (SGC Purebliss Glaciers girl) was given 3rd Best of Breed Bengal kitten. Everyone at Purebliss were thrilled to have the top three Best of Breeds in that ring from our lines. Purebliss thanks go to Fiona and Gill - the girls are a credit to you.
Purebliss Leonardo Di Vinci (aka Leo) - a striking silver spotted Savannah boy looked the part as usual - what can I say! I'm so proud of carol and Richard for the way they have brought this gorgeous Savannah boy on - the obvious love they show this boy - they give him the confidence to show everyone how a Savannah should behave. Leo took 2 of today's merits.
Purebliss Its Magic (aka Magic) is a brown spotted Savannah boy who looked stunning in his first TICA show at only 6 months old. His behaviour is a credit to Tracy and Ivan in their first cat show on Sunday. Magic took 4 merits (best of breeds) on Sunday, and he behaved wonderfully, enjoyed his first show, and looked fabulous.
Purebliss thanks go to all who show our babies with such love and enthusiasm. The care you give our baby Bengals and savannahs is shown with not only their behaviour but the excellent weight and extremely good condition they are in. Our thanks for all the support we are getting from you lovely people out there. Our friends are lovely as always, but especially those of you out there that we don't know who have made your own judgements and realised the love most of us breeders and show exhibitors have for our cats and kittens.

New Girl

We set off 7.30am this morning whilst Vicky and Amelia looked after all the cats and kittens. Arriving with Garry and Nicky around 11am - ish, we were greeted with tea and bics and a lovely warm welcome.
There was our girl sat watching us - what a sweetheart!
Garry showed us his Wolf Dog with great pride - a beautiful animal!
I was also thrilled to be able to caress their gorgeous snake - can't remember what sort - sorry Garry and Nicky - hehe!
But my best thrill of the day was to cuddle Poppy - she is a delight! We definitely had to check my pockets before leaving. What great cuddles she gives. This little wriggle britches is only 4 months old, and she is being hand raised with enormous success - the love she receives is obvious from the love she is happy to give to total strangers such as us.
We were thrilled to see their stunning serval, and of course a stunning male and female Ocelot - what stunning cats! Its wonderful to see how well these creatures are cared for - the love and care they receive shows in their coat quality and build, not to mention the sparkle in their eyes, and their interest in life itself.
Purebliss are thrilled with our girl - many, many thanks to Garry and Nicky for ALCA - we love her already. ALCA is sat with me as i write this blog, and we will spend many hours on blogs and emails together in the future.
Amelia had already gone home at lunch, and now its time for Vicky to go home also, so Tim and I are now going to give the cats and kittens their supper.

This is a blog more about me (Jacky) than about breeding or a boarding cattery, so you may find this blog a little boring at times. Tim, Vicky and Katey are the ones doing all the hard work these days, and I get to do all the kitten cuddling and website work.
Mum is now 92yrs old - she's had a struggle since the end of last year, but she seems to be improving now. Mum lives in Leeds and we don't get to see her half as much as we'd like to, so I'm trying to get up to see her more these days.
The Boarding Cattery, and Breeding is a way of life with us at Purebliss and if we aren't careful we forget there is another world out there.
Vicky has taken over Holiday Home For Cats - our private boarding cattery with the help of Fran mid-week, and Amelia at the weekends. Vicky also does a great job managing the running of Purebliss Cattery. Tim is always on hand as the rock of our lives at Purebliss. Katey has taken on much of the paperwork which leaves me to concentrate on updating websites, taking photos, and the best bit of all - cuddling cats and kittens. Now we are reducing at Purebliss and have neutered some Bengal queens and studs at purebliss I'm hoping to spend time with my family and friends.
We will be reducing some of our Savannahs this year so if you are interested in homing an adult neuter please contact Purebliss in Summer.

23 February '10 - Tim and Vicky looked after all the cats and kittens whilst I nursed my migraine all afternoon and night - all you out there that suffer migraines know how bad it is when your balance goes as well as the pain coming in.
Apologies to everyone who couldn't get in touch with me by phone, and many thanks to you all that contacted Tim and I by email with your support regarding the cat that may or may not be a Purebliss cat that was discussed on facebook - Purebliss didn't know about any of this!

Wednesday - 24 February
Feeling much better by lunchtime so i was able to still drive Lyn for her City hospital visit. What a lot of work these doctors and nurses put into their days, yet they do it with a smile for everyone. We weren't kept waiting long, yet it still took hours. Lyn visited the doctor in Oncology, then straight down for an x-ray, then back to see the doctor again. We were both tired so straight back home.

Thursday - 25 February
Updated Savannah and the Bengal sites.
10.30am - collected Lyn - drove to GP to collect the blood results for Lyn to take with us. Then drove to Nottingham and parked in Victoria Centre. Lyn has disabled parking so we took our parking disc to the information desk on the top floor and we were allowed 4 hours free parking in a disabled parking area. This is really helpful as Lyn can't walk very far without feeling tired.

12.05pm - we timed it just right for walking into the Bistro just outside Victoria Centre. Its so hard to get a table here for lunch if you leave it too late. We both had really tasty meals, and hardly had room for a desert, although Lyn managed cheese and bics and i managed a creme brulee - Delicious!
After a leisurely walk back to the car, stopping at a couple of shops, and also a drink in a cafe it was time to head for hospital again.
We managed to park reasonably close to the Chemo wards this time. We didn't have too long to wait before being taken to our seats where Lyn was hooked up to her meds.
The nurses on duty are amazing! i have nothing but praise for these nurses.
6 patients are being treated in the first bay - 6 more in the next bay. All the time we are there the nurses just don't stop. They are walking from one patient to the next seeing to first this drip, then the next patients drip. Maybe a new patient, or maybe one lucky person finished for today and going home. first this machine beeps, then the next machine beeps, and each one is checked by a nurse. During all their running around after their patients they always have a smile and a reassuring word. The nurses keep everyone's spirits up with lighthearted comments and share their happy times.
These lovely people who work hard to help people when they need it deserve lots of praise and our respect - they certainly have ours.

26 February - am - Vicky, Fran, and Tim are doing all the hard work this morning. late morning and a lovely couple arrive to look around our savannahs and say hello to Jim Serval. Tim also introduced them to some of our bengals along with Harry ALC.
1.30pm - Tim accompanies me for my hospital apointment - more tests - yuk!
This time its Grantham Hospital but the staff are just as helpful, and also very efficient. Hardly any waiting before we are called in.

Yesterday was Anca's last day with us, she is going back to Romania - we all wish Anca and her future husband lots of happiness!
make sure all water is drinkable for the cats and kittens - they all love it when we take in warm water for their morning drink.
we decided not to place Cash with Harry (ALC) today as she has gone off call. Instead we take in Jez who is in major call. Harry is very interested in Jez, and Jez likes the look of Harry. Harry doesn't have time to clean himself, but Jez tells him to go back and take things a little slower. We'll keep our eye on them as we go about our feeding and cleaning.
my usual morning is looking after the kittens and their mums. Loopy Loo and Treasure are eagerly looking for us, waiting to go out.
Amelia is doing a great job turning out to work in this weather, making sure the cats and kept clean and warm. we spend far more time in their heated bedrooms cuddling up to the cats than normal - lots of fun and warms us up as their bedrooms are always lovely and warm.
lunchtime - Harry and Jez are happy in each others company, although they haven't managed any contact yet.
Lunchtime feeds for kittens and lactating mums - with the weather being as cold as this we need to check all water bowls throughout the day, as well as morning and evening. we need to ensure that the boarders not used to living in chalets are spending time in their heated bedrooms as well as having their fresh air in their exercise areas.
PM - its a pleasure to meet Gill and her husband, and show them around our adult cats for adoption. Jinx is very happy to have cuddles, and wins their hearts.
It was lovely to meet a family of 5 to look at our Bengal kittens, we spent an enjoyable hour or so cuddling kittens.
where does the time go! time to feed, water, and clean the kittens and their mums again.
Harry (ALC) and Jez are both happy in each others company in Harry's heated bedroom, but its time for Jez to go back to her own chalet - so - until tomorrow Harry - say goodnight to Jez!

AM - Feed, water, and check all kittens and their mums. Take Treasure and Loopy Loo out for their rest time.
Anca arrives to help Vicky whilst Tim and I go to Cash and Carry for kitten and cat food. Katey arrives with Joseph to help with paperwork - don't know what I'd do without her!
Arrive back to find a palate of litter had been delivered, so that needs moving.
Lunchtime feeds and the usual checks and cuddle times with kittens.
PM - Paperwork all afternoon, then a quick trip out to catch up with Lynn - Lynn is the gem who does some of the cat rescue work in our area. Bring back Treasure and Loopy Loo to go with their kittens. they love to come back to their kittens, yet they will be waiting to go out tomorrow morning. Although this works for Treasure and Loopy Loo, it isn't right for all queens to leave their kittens for a few hours everyday. Some mothers don't want to come back to their kittens, although most of our queens like to visit their kittens until their kittens have had their second vaccination.
Feed, water and check the kittens and mums.
Emails, and take photos of the blue girl - photos don't do her justice, so only one placed on site until another day when we can take some better photos.

Am - Give Harry his breakfast then Cash joins Harry in his exercise area. After running along side each other for the last 2 months this is the second day of them being together. Harry is very interested in Cash and spends much of his time cleaning himself then moving closer to her, then running up to her, she tells him off, so he goes back onto his bed for an hour, then starts his journey of moving back up to her all over again. He is such a softie, he may have the wild blood of an Asian leopard cat but he is such a love.
The rest of the morning is the usual feed, water, clean mums and kittens whilst Tim and Vicky look after the boarders, Bengals, and Savannahs, and Anca does her usual wonderful job of cleaning chalets, litters, and beds/bedding.
Elijah - the Savannah boy who went to the wrong home for him (an older savannah boy was successfully homed there) - he came back to us frightened - having been restricted first to the kitchen and conservatory, he is now running around the house with Indi to look after him. He is still cautious of strangers but he is such a softie and loves his cuddles. His favourite place to sleep seems to be on one of the chairs under the dinning table waiting to see if he can steel something - but we don't mind - hehe!
pm - spent taking photographs with the help of Tim and Vicky, and loading them onto site. Spent a couple more hours replying to emails, whilst Fran looked after the cats so that Tim and Vicky could help me. Then the kittens and their mums need their supper.

Back to Work

7.30am set off to the Vets - Kittens to be Vaccinated - things are back to normal with the added help of k & S.
I arrive back about 10am to find things in full swing in the cattery, so I'm able to get on with answering emails, and finishing pedigrees and paperwork for kittens being collected. Anca is here today to help K & S.
Lunch is kindly prepared by Sarah and we all tuck into a wonderful curry.
Then its back to the paperwork and emails for me in the afternoon whilst Tim, K & S are taking care of customers, cats and kittens.

time for home

A leisurely Full English Breakfast after pestering Kelly and Sarah to make sure everything is OK at home. Its lovely to spend the time with Vicky and Paul talking over the events of the previous day.
we meet up with Paul's family in Reception to say our goodbyes - its reassuring to know what a lovely family Vicky has married into.
Bags, wedding gown, and wedding cake (bottom tier) into our car, then off to meet up at the Gretna Green outlet park. A little shopping, a little socialising, and a little coffee and chocs - then its back on the road to home.
Keeping in touch with Kelly and Sarah hasn't been a problem, they have always reassured us that everything was going smoothly with nothing to worry about.
we've had 48 hours away, and thoroughly enjoyed our time away, but we were also pleased to arrive home at just after 4pm.
Checking on the kittens and mums, and Kelly and Sarah understood our need to look around everywhere.
we unpacked as Kelly and Sarah of Kelsar Bengals finished off, fed, and watered and put to bed all the cats and kittens.
we had a great meal and caught up on everything that had been going on.

Wedding Day

Smiths is a lovely hotel but a hotel bed is never the same as the comfort of your own is it!
So a restless night meant a lay-in until 8.30am - Kelly and Sarah confirm everything is going well at home.
9am breakfast in the brasserie - Full English - luv it!
Back up to our bedroom and Vicky arrives after having her hair done - Kelly and Sarah confirm everything is going well.
music put on and lots of gossip - Tim seems to be handling the women's talk very well.
11am - Time to order tea, cappuccino, cakes and bics - Mmmm - lovely!
Vicky goes for her makeup application.
Katey arrives all dressed up and looking gorgeous! She manages to finish the wonderful Cream Scones (Clotted cream - mmm!)
Time for Tim and I to get dressed ready for Vicky coming back from her appointment.
Vicky arrives back and goes to her room, and with Katey's help brings back her accessories for her wedding gown.
All this time we keep in contact with Paul (bridegroom) to ensure everything is going smoothly - he's gone to collect the marriage license, and he has the rings.
Vicky is placed into her gown etc - wow! a gorgeous bride!
We have 2 wonderful daughters both looking gorgeous!
We wonder down to Vicky's room to see Paul and his family from their balcony as they set off for the blacksmiths shop.
We then start down to reception - a vintage Rolls Royce awaits us - obviously much loved and cared for.
we are helped into the Cream and Black Rolls and off we go.
Snow had turned to thick ice as we arrived at the blacksmiths shop - we are helped out and down into the reception.
A lovely ceremony - if there were any doubts that it wouldn't be as good as a normal wedding, they were soon dispelled. A romantic wedding with a touch of tradition, and a touch of modern approach.
Lots of photos taken and back to the hotel bar to await the arrival of the bride and groom.
Once they arrive we are escorted to the reception room. Being only 12 of us it was like being on the top table with all the friendliest people of the wedding. it was lovely to meet and spend the afternoon and evening with Paul and his family.
A wonderful time was had by all, and the bridge and groom (Vicky and Paul) are so obviously happy and in love - Awww!

Day before Wedding

Early start as we feed and water kittens and their mums, boarders and Bengals, and Savannahs looked after by Tim.
Kelly and Sarah arrive early - Vicky has left a novel of explanation for them - hehe! better that there is too much information than not enough!
A walk through the boarding cattery, then through the Bengals and savannahs. Kelly and Sarah take over from us and we go to pack our cases, and Vicky's wedding dress.
4pm and we set off for Scotland - Gretna green - Smiths hotel - Vicky's (eldest daughter)wedding.
A long drive but weather is good, and once we are past the A1 Trunk Road the traffic thins out.
Vicky meets us as we arrive at Smiths hotel. I go for a welcome soft drink as Tim and Paul (Vicky's husband to be) take the bags and Vicky's wedding (wrapped and hidden) dress to our room.
A welcome meal was brought to our table, and we spent the rest of an enjoyable evening getting to know our future in-laws.

Lil is wanting more freedom now, but she can't go in the Lounge with Popsicle as they just don't get on since Popsi gave birth.
Beds and litters to change and wash.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Popsi is giving birth to snow marbled Bengal babies - Timmy is a dad!

one boy so far - not many babies - she has a lot of liquid coming out.

1pm - light lunch - tim and i opened our presents to each other. no surpise that we bought each other lots of chocolates, DVDs, and winter crocks.

2.28pm and we now have Popsi's boy plus one girl - popsi is taking her time.

8am - Daisy, Jinx, T-boy into the car for neutering - Lil into the car for check up - Popsi into the car for check up - vet is an hour away but well worth the trip.
9am - pile all the cats into the vets room - sign forms for neutering 2 girls and a boy - Lil's healed beautifully this time with her nylon stitches - she will always have them there but at least they held whilst she healed after having to have her intestines washed and put back in.
Popsi is as good as gold whilst we look at her babies hearts pumping away on the scanner - what a wonderful site. Popsi is late with her babies but they have strong hearts, and she isn't in any distress - in fact she is very happy apart from being at the vets.
11am back home and coffee time before feeding the kittens and their mums their lunch.
12.15am staff buffet starts
2.30pm about to set off for the vets - one phone call, then another and its 3.30pm in no time at all.
An hours drive and we find three chirpy little voices at the vets waiting to come home.
by the time we are ready to set off back home the fog has come in and its a slow drive home behind lots of traffic.
arrive home feed all the kittens and their mums whilst Tim and Vicky look after the rest of the cats. Thank goodness i have their support whilst i do vet runs etc.
Tim, Vicky and I move the wall units into the lounge, and bring down some more Christmas decks ready for tomorrow. There is always lots of cleaning to do whenever any furniture is moved isn't there and this is no exception.
Emails to answer - pet owners, breeders, and friends. we also get a few time wasters who are usually other breeders - if only they could find it in their hearts to be kind or helpfull to others they would find a lovely world with lovely people out there.
Had a lovely chat with Laura - lots of lovely gossip - hehe! we realy shouldn't leave it so long next time.
check round, have another look at the cats back from the vets, then dinner, DVD, and bed in that order.

early morning garden walk

Wednesday - 4.16am - a glance at my clock tells me the time. This is the second time this week the alarm has blasted out - its the cattery alarm again.
a grey haired couple in dressing gowns, and this time Vicky joins us, walking around the cattery and garden in our dressing gowns checking on all the cats and cattery doors. Just Vicky's bad luck she chose this night to stay over - hehe!
Everything is fine, so reset the alarms and back to bed with a warm drink. Its so rare any alarms go off we make a thorough check of everything.

am - morning feed and water, we need some more chicken breasts for the kittens. Collect Serena (Bengal breeder) from the train station, and on the way back call into ASDA for chicken. Turkey breast is cheaper so bring back some of those for the kittens to last until tomorrows collection of chickens.
Serena and I pop out for a pub lunch - its lovely to catch up with fellow breeders. we talk so much she misses her train, so we take a quick car journey down to A1 and meet her husband on the way to collect her children from school.
pm - back home and mince and mash the turkey - the kittens love it!
Then its boring paperwork for me - I'd much rather cuddle kittens, but there are pedigrees and kitten registration waiting to be completed.
6pm - its an early finish today as we are having dinner with Clive and Gail. A really lovely evening was enjoyed by all.
9.30pm - walk around the cattery and check everything is fine, then it on with a Christmas DVD - a glass of wine for Tim and a glass of water for me - lovely!

wedding gown

Tuesday 08 December - 3.30am ish - alarm sounding loud and clear in the house - its the cattery alarm.
what a sight - a grey haired couple in dressing gowns, torches and phones in hands, walking around our cattery and garden in the dark at that time in a morning. If anyone had seen us they would have thought us mad - hehe!
A good look around and reset the alarms, then off to bed.

Its an early start this morning as Vicky and I have some shopping to do. Feeding and watering the cats and kittens. Insulin for one boarder, wormers and flea control for a family of cats going home today, then there is the little spotted boy of Becky's - make sure he is feeding OK and his poo is good.
Its Vicky's last fitting with her wedding gown at 12noon - its an hour drive to get there.
Wow - what a sight! Vicky is stunning as she struts her stuff around the shop in her wedding gown. Gorgeous long gloves to set off her fabulous gown matching her bubbly personality.
The gown is soon in its bag and into the back of our car. Then its my turn - so we are off to a retail park. Jacques Vert is the first shop we try and that's job done. It was the same outfit i found 2 months ago, but they didn't have my size at that time. So we can now go and find something for Tim - not as much luck there, so we'll have to take him with us next time and find his wedding outfit next week. Time for coffee and cake and then onto Christmas goody shopping. We call into a store on the way home to collect a handbag for my outfit, we didn't manage to find shoes so I'll look for those next week.

pm - now back home and Tim has done his usual excellent job - all cats cleaned, fed, watered, and bedded down for the night.
Vicky is too tired to drive home so its a roast meal with us and straight to bed to view a DVD.

struggling bengal babies

Becky couldn't manage to get 3 of her Bengal babies to take to solid food well. Once they were eating they started to loose weight, and then they stopped eating and Becky didn't know what to do, she started to get upset with them, so we took them away so as not to upset the balance of the whole litter.
Sloppy cooked chicken was too much for them, so it was back to syringing them food into their mouths (they didn't want it at first). Sloppy, mashed, cooked chicken sieved so that we could have the juices to add to a/d meat. a little at a time and often until they got used to it and started to eat again. Lots of fluid going into their tiny bodies until their digestion adapted to solids. Our vet gave them a little medication to help for a few days, then they were away - eating for England so to speak - hehe! it was good to see them eating again, it was just a matter of keeping them hydrated until their bodies adapted to the food.

We left Becky with her 3 brown spotted babies that were doing so well with her, they went into the kitten conservatory on live webcam for everyone to see.
One of the marble boys we called Billy - even though he was struggling with his body to accept solid food, he was the largest of the litter.
The other brown marbled boy we named Bertie - he was the smallest at birth, and what a softie he has turned out to be.
The 3rd boy that was struggling with solid food we named Benny - a rosetted brown spotted boy with a fight for life in him like no other - he growls at his food as he eats it - hehe!

Sunday 6 December - am feed for the strugglers.
we looked at them and decided we couldn't call them strugglers anymore.
Billy was probably larger and fatter than the kittens that Becky was now weaning herself.
Bertie was smaller but what a sweetie he is, and with that apatite for life he will be OK now.
we decided it was time to put these 2 marbled boys available for reservation on site as pets.

Benny is still a little small and skinny - even though he is first in to eat, and he probably eats the lions share, his body still isn't adapting to food quite as quickly as his brothers, so we will wait a little longer before we photograph him. I think he is the comedian of the bunch - we named him after our own Benny - see him on our articles page.
they only have 4 feeds a day now as they manage quite well on their own.

feeding and watering kittens and mums with babies for me whilst everyone else cleans them out.

Luvalot is calling like mad, she has such a wonderful warble. Indi has decided to join her in her antics of cuddling everyone and everything that can cope with it. the paperwork, magazines etc tends to go flying off every surface with their rolling and tearing.

Bicky has left her bengal babies now, she was ready to leave them, and didn't want any visiting rights. Bicky has done a marvelous job weaning them, and teaching them their manners and hygiene. some mothers like to make a clean break of it like Bicky did, whilst other mums like to take it a little at a time, and just have a break from them now and then.

Loopy Loo has visiting rights to her Savannah kittens during the day, and Becky is waiting at the door of the kitten conservatory ready to have time out from her Bengal babies for a few hours.

Danny went in with Trinity and Tranquility so we are looking forward to having wonderful silver Savannah babies in 2010.

Lunchtime - feeding and checking all kittens and mums with kittens.

PM - I noticed one of Loopy's kittens was hiding behind her brothers and sisters at lunchtime. I take her out and tuck her into my jacket, nice and warm. She's hissing and growling as i pick her up as she is a little unsure about life at the moment. After walking around with her for half and hour I answer some emails with her tucked in my jacket. She's nice and calm now, and is enjoying her tickles around her ears, and is finding comfort in me stroking her head and body. Its time to put her back with her brothers and sisters. we'll do this a couple of times daily, so that she can have her special time on her own with me to help her gain confidence in herself. This girl is going to be a real softie, as i put her back with her litter she clings onto me, then gives in and lets go when she spots the chicken.
5.30pm Evening feeding starts with the kittens whilst Tim feeds outside cats and kittens. all the cats and kittens are checked at the same time as feeding them, topping up their bics, and checking they all have water for the night.
6.30pm More emails to answer, and update our kittens for sale page on our site.
Time to make dinner, and maybe take time to view a DVD, and relax a little before walking around the cattery before retiring to bed.

Miss P update

Miss P (aka Safi) is doing well - Purebliss received the following update on Safi so we thought it would be nice to share it with you as so many of you ask after her....................

.............. a quick update on Safi… she has now finally really settled into her new home and gives Chico a run for his money around the house (he is not her greatest fan but they do play together and sleep together until he gets irritated and tells her to go away!). She still over-grooms herself but much less, all the fur has now returned on her front, belly, rear legs and nether regions – which is a relief as I was worried about how cold she would get in the winter as she really was completely bald apart from her head, tail and back at one point! Apart from the few patchy areas she still on her inside rear legs and ankles, and the loud licking noises she makes is going through an intensive grooming session, she is a normal happy cat!

She is very bouncy and tears around the house, she has a tendency to like curtain climbing which is annoying, and also likes to ruin my carpets – all signs of a happy cat!

she may not be 100% yet but safi is definitely getting there with the help and understanding of her owners.

Arrived home Monday late afternoon - tired but happy having had a wonderful time in Norway.
Visited all the Boarders, Bengals, and Savannahs - just to say hello!
Vicky had done a fabulous job looking after them all with the help of Katey, Fran, Anca, and Amelia - many thanks to them all for all their hard work. Having had a cup of coffee and taken Vicky's update on Boarders, Bengals, Savannahs, it was time to catch up on the many emails that were sitting unanswered - not a quick job by any means - please be patient with me and i will answer all emails in the next couple of days - if i don't' get back to you by Wednesday, please resend.

norway visit

Per and Tove Ingrid of ArcticSavannahs / ArcticBengals invited Tim and myself to join them - the second TICA show in Norway. We went a few days early and Per and Tove Ingrid were amazing hosts - showing us their beautiful country Norway - such stunning views! we met some of the friendliest people its ever been our pleasure to meet.

Per and Tove Ingrid treated us to a night out to see this fabulous show - a tribute to Freddie Mercury. A thoroughly enjoyable evening - my goodness - it made us tired just watching them.

we had a wonderful day meeting show exhibitors from Norway and their stunning cats and kittens. Purebliss wish them all future success and hope that their TICA shows continue to grow in popularity.

What a relief to see that CatWorld shows their respect for the truth and has given a good 4 page spread of what a savannah is like.
November issue of Catworld shows our own Illusion (6th generation savannah at Purebliss Savannahs), Serval Jim who loves to spend time with his serval girlfriend Betty (helping Poespoes and Purebliss further the Savannahs), Penelope (6th generation savannah) with QGC Purebliss Valour (bengal stud) stating some of the differences between a bengal and savannah, and a photo of Tim Bliss holding Loopy Loo - a 6th generation savannah kitten, with Bolivia - a 6th generation savannah kitten, sat on his shoulder.

A film crew was at purebliss for the BBC - the one show, they were very pleasant and it was a pleasure to have them here. The 3 and half minutes that was talked of was reduced to about a minute and it was mentioned - too much information and too much detail, too complicated. What went out on TV wasn't quite what was expected - they put their own spin on it to say the least - as media often do.
They were good enough to point out that there has never been an incident with a Savannah. They also showed my interview stating my trust in my cats and kittens with my grandchild and children. Lets face it, we allow our kittens to go to families with children, and if we can't trust our cats and kittens with our own family we have no right letting them go to other families.
I thought I would remember to be more basic for the next interview.

An interview took place at Purebliss for the Daily Mail. Victoria was a pleasure to have here. All the cats and kittens were frightened of the photographer, so that didn't help us at all. Although the article in the Daily Mail started well, it went down hill with Victoria's description of Ecstasy when he struggled to get out of her arms when the cameraman came close - anyone that knows Ecstasy knows what a lovely nature this boys has and he doesn't have any larger jaws than any other male cat.
I thought I would remember for the next interview that was arranged how these people love to put their own spin on everything. How silly articles read when you were there at the interview.

Having had such good interviews with Fred for animal planet, i wrongly expected to see the good in the media.

30 September '09 - Next came Emma for Hull Look North, a pleasure to have at Purebliss. Emma said she wanted to show the cats as they really are, both Savannahs and Bengals. Emma suggested right at the start to keep it as simple as possible for their viewers that don't know anything about the terms used or breeding programmes. Although i could have been better myself, I'm told this was the best representation for the Savannah, although i didn't get to see it myself, i'm told by some that i know, Look North tried not to be misleading and were honest in their approach, although their cutting did make it come over a little strange mix of bengals and savannahs.

Many thanks to all of you that supported me in this difficult task. and to you who came down against me - well at least we now have some of the public seeing the Savannah size instead of this inflated picture of them being like an F1 (serval to domestic outcross).

dropout update

Dropout had been doing so well, then last night he stopped feeding. we have been dropping small amount of milk into his mouth through the night in the hope he would start fighting again. He stopped holding onto our fingers and just curled up into a little ball in our hands wanting to cuddle. Then this afternoon he lost his battle, he slipped away quietly in our hands, all curled up in a little ball, just as if he was still asleep - only this time it was a much longer sleep.
We feel very sad at his loss.
Its a strange day today, as its my birthday tomorrow and it doesn't feel right celebrating, so we think we will put it off for a day or two.

last night was hard going.
Approx 10pm - checking on Popsicle as she has been showing signs of early labour for a few days - she is in confinement - a little like bed rest for humans.
Out popped the tiniest kitten with only a little fur on his back and head - all wrinkly and pink, but with good lungs, screaming to his hearts content.
Tim took him and snuggled him into him whilst he set up a hot water bottle and a snugly blanket.
Popsicle needed looking after as she was still having contractions. she was very upset and didn't know what was happening to her. out popped another premature kitten, but this time it wasn't developed quite enough internally and died within seconds. how sad when something with such beauty has no chance at life.
Dropout is what we call him as that's what he did. he is such a fighter! We feed him every hour with small amounts of watery milk replacement.
9am and he is still fighting and doing well. he clings onto my fingers whilst he feeds and falls asleep with the syringe still in his mouth.
11am - we've decided Dropout can go on to 2 hourly feeds as he is doing so well.
1pm/2pm - Dropout is doing well on his 2 hourly feeds so that's how we will keep it for now.
His marbling is stunning, you can see all his markings quite clearly on his pink skin, even the third colour travelling down the centre of his tramlines down his back - stunning boy.

Savannah Babies

Ambition is starting to get fed up of her babies today, therefore moving Savannah babies to the kitten house where Winnie's kittens are. Winnie's Bengal babies were raised by Dolly in the kitten house when Winnie couldn't manage it. we will see if she wants visiting times or not - all queens are different with different needs for their happiness.

We put a new climbing frame in with Bolivia and her kittens yesterday. they have well and truly got the hang of it overnight. Mum doesn't get a look in - he he! they are weaning well apart from one of the little girls who we are helping out with.

Energy is loving having her kittens. She has now allowed them to move out of the cocoon she made in the quilts, so that they can see what is going on in their small world. There is a large cushion I've left near their bed for me to sit on, and a little boy keeps walking up it, but in no time at all Energy has him back in with his brothers and sisters. I don't think it will be long before he's out and about.

Joseph has his third operation this morning so it was an early start for Katey, malc and Joseph. He came through with flying colours and we hope he will be home Thursday.

Purebliss Bungalow Bill went in for neutering today. Apparently he only stopped talking to them when under anesthetic - he he!

Debbie called in with cream cakes and so we all had ham sandwiches followed by cream cakes for lunch - yummy!
It was lovely to see Debbie again, not to mention saska (seal spotted lynx) again, a stunning snow boy we let go as a much loved pet with Debbie.

Winnie had 4 gorgeous rosetted brown spotted Bengal kittens - one I'm tempted to keep - oh dear, that means i have to make a decision of if i retire a queen to keep another kitten!
Friday 10 July - had everything ready to go to the TICA cat show Saturday and Sunday.
Evening - Winnie starts to have contractions again and starts rejecting her kittens. With Winnie all night helping her with her kittens.
Saturday 9am - Ring Vet and take Winnie for an examination. She is free of anything left inside her but she seems to still have contractions, so we bring her home to keep a close eye on her. Meanwhile Dolly has taken her kittens to look after, Winnie finds it hard to take care of her kittens herself. We keep an eye on Dolly looking after Winnies kittens but all seems well there.
That means no show for me on the Saturday.
Hopefully Sunday i will make it to the show.

Wednesday 1st July '09
6.30am - phone call from Vicky letting us know that Katey is dilated to 3 cms. we find it nerve wracking waiting for phone calls that never arrive. its a time for husband and wife to be together with the birth of their first baby, but my goodness its hard being a mum sometimes and trying to keep out of things.
mid-day. Finding it impossible to wait any longer for news, we contact the hospital for news - Katey is dilated to 5 cms.
5pm -ish. we take a call from Malcolm informing us that she is dilated to 7cms and he will ring us once their baby is born. Everything is now finally going well and they are now anticipating a normal birth.
Still more waiting!

we seem to have been working on automatic today. Everything seems to have been done, the cats and kittens are all well. The fans are really appreciated by them all, some cats and kittens sitting on shelves waiting for the fan to swivel round to them.
Only Cash doesn't like the fans - she is hiding under our table in the entrance conservatory keeping her eye on some snow kittens we have running around between the kitchen and conservatory. They don't seem to understand where the breeze keeps coming from when they go near the fans. Cash makes sure they don't go outside which means we can keep the doors open - i wonder how long that will last until they learn they can escape to the world outside.

Moved the 2 Illusions kittens that are waiting to be collected out of the lounge, and moved in Treasures kittens - they love it, although they don't seem as interested in the TV - or maybe its the news that doesn't interest them - he he!

Had to move one of the blue kittens out of the kitten room today as its being bullied by the rest of her brothers and sisters.

Devils snow litter vaccinated today - one of the boys seems to have a temperature this evening - need to keep an eye on him. syringe some cold water down him and make it into a game to encourage him to drink lots at the same time. Once it cools down tonight i will give them all some chicken juices to drink to encourage them to drink more.

Allie has gone in with Timmy - we'll just have to wait to see what happens as they are not interested in anything but laying down.
hopefully tomorrow i will be writing about our new grandchild.

katey's pregnancy

Tuesday 31st June '09
12.36am - A phone call from Katey - she is having contractions every 5 mins which goes to 4 Mins whilst on the phone to me. i tell her to keep me informed and tell her to try to rest as she can't go into hospital until they are every 3 mins.
7.15am - i give Vicky a call to see if she has heard anything about Katey. Vicky is on her way to Katey's to pick up her cats and bring them to us for their holiday whilst Katey is in hospital. Once Vicky arrives at Katey's she gives us a call to let us know that there are only cats there so they must be in hospital.
mid-am - we get a call from Katey to say her labour has slowed down, so its a waiting game. She is going to try to get some rest and will let us know when the pains heat up again.
Meanwhile everything continues in the cattery.......... kittens need to be fed and cared for ........... as do the Queens and Studs. All the fans are going on full to keep the air moving in the quarantine, the boarding cattery, and Purebliss Cattery.
we have a visit from 2 lady's wanting information on hybrids and harnesses so we send them to talk with Kelly and Sara of Kelsar Bengals who make great harnesses.
Lunchtime - Vicky is making lunch and we can all have some iced drinks to cool down.
pm - we will keep our fingers crossed that things speed up for Katey. when Katey was born i went into labour on the Friday and she was born on the Monday, i wonder if she is going through a similar thing.

Tuesday 16th June
Fed weaning kittens and very young kittens with warm cooked chicken in juices - they love it!
Older kittens given fresh raw, along with some of the adults who love it. we are also hand raising a savannah litter who's mum had decided it was time they stood alone - they can't quite manage it yet, so we are syringe feeding them every few hours to encourage them into early weaning.

Vicky collected Katey on the way to work this morning so that she could spend time with us - Katey is too close to her due date to drive.

Mid-morning and the vet makes his daily visit to Purebliss Quarantine - checks the cats and signs the book. Tim and Vicky had just finished cleaning out Betty. She is becoming cleaner in her sleeping area now she is nearing her due date - her pregnancy is so very different to the Bengal and Savannahs, and much longer.
Syringe feed the Savannah litter that needs help weaning.

Then the rest of the morning is taken up with mincing lamb hearts and chicken breasts. Then its onto the whole chickens - all to be ground twice so that no bones are left - full of goodness!

Lunchtime - Vicky and Katey are making the sandwiches whilst i hand feed the savannahs for early weaning.
Katey is very close to her due date now, so the warm weather is getting too much for her at times. After lunch she has her daily nap before Malcolm picks her up to take her home. Lunchtime feeds for all the kittens.

pm - cash and carry visit to buy some tinned and dry cat food, sundries etc. picked up some new toys for all the kittens. Put some straight into a couple of kitten litters - I'm really pleased with them (the kittens love them too) will buy some more later in the week.

no sooner back then Tim comes looking for me to answer the phone. Kittens need to take priority, especially these that need hand feeding. people don't understand sometimes that the kittens need feeding on time or they don't improve. we don't always answer every phone call as we are working with kittens or cats that need our attention.
Managed to get the early weaning kittens fed.

pm - time to take photos - took some photos of a couple of savannah kittens that i haven't had time to take before.
Hand feed the early weaners.
Nightly feed for all the cats and kittens - check all waters are full, and remove any poo from kitten litters.
take the savannah kittens from the webcam into the lounge. Leave Tim to clean out the kitten conservatory ready for a Bengal litter to go in. its lovey to see the kittens running and playing on camera.

8pm - time passes too quickly - we need to eat.
Hand feed the early weaning kittens, and check kittens all have dry to eat during the night.

we need to take some more photos but instead we have a cup of tea (for Tim) coffee (for me) and view a DVD.
the rest of the photos will have to wait until another day - there are only so many hours in a day and the health and welfare of our cats and kittens have to come first.

Hand feeding, then weaning kittens. LouLou giving birth early during the early hours of Sunday morning, she started about 2.30am, meaning we didn't get much sleep before going to show on the Sunday.

Picked up Mum from Leeds on Monday - we are very proud to say she is 92 years old this year and fit and well. We had a day shopping on Tuesday and dinned out in the evening. We gave Mum a birthday party on the Wednesday evening which we are pleased to say she really enjoyed. Mum had flowers and chocolates, and gifts from Vicky, Katey, Paul and Malcolm. Tim and I bought her a gorgeous suede jacket which i would have loved myself.

Vicky and Katey (daughters) took Mum back on Thursday whilst we got ready for our visitors. We were very happy to see Per and Tove Ingrid again, and enjoyed their company for dinner in the evening. They stayed with us overnight and helped us the following day with the cats and kittens. Per and Tove Ingrid took Leila and Hero back to Norway with them on the Friday by an overnight crossing. Leila and Hero did very well and took the long journey in their stride. We miss these cats that have been with us in quarantine for so many months, we've grown to know and love them.

Saturday was a Seminar - I love to go to these as there are so many things we can learn about cats in general, and different breeds. Maggie was with us for 6.30am and we set off in order to arrive about 8.30am. We had a good day and happily met up with friends from the show world.

Much of Sunday was trying to catch up on work. Tim did a great job keeping everything ticking over nicely on his own as Vicky decided to have the weekend and bank holiday on the Broads - I'm pleased to say it sounds like she and Paul are having a wonderful time - a much earned rest so she can start all over again on Tuesday.

Monday is Vicky's birthday. lots of work trying to get everything done so that we can have a birthday party in the afternoon. Vicky, Paul, Katey, Malcolm, Tim and myself celebrating the birth our daughter Vicky, she will always be our baby girl. Same with Katey, always our baby girl. You mothers out there know what i mean!
Well - I'd better go and get ready for everyone coming now.

Ambition has lost too much weight and condition so we've decided to take her kittens away and hand raise them. they aren't too happy about us feeding them powdered milk instead of their mothers milk, but they will get used to it.
Even though they are weeks old, we feed them every 3 hours until they take to the milk.
Night feeds are tiring but a necessity until they start to take the milk more happily. we need to make sure they don't dehydrate.
Friday pm - bath Renegade and give Timmy a good brushing. both have dropped some weight due to their need for girls. they will have to learn to wait until the girls are ready.

Life has been manic lately - so very busy with birthing, kittens and changes in the cattery. White House Boarding Cattery is now open and almost full at times already. Maintenance is almost finished and Vicky has been doing a great job with the painting of the pens once maintenance on each pen has been completed.

I made time to visit Carol of Eriador Bengals on Sunday to see her gorgeous Bengal kittens - carol has produced some stunning Bengal babies and I just had to make time for a visit.
We had a great time catching up on things and then she placed both of Summers kittens in my hands. Knowing how much these 2 girls mean to Carol, I was honoured to be asked to choose which i would like as part of my breeding programme. How could i possibly choose, No, Carol must make the choice. My thanks go to Carol for entrusting me with such a treasure!

Then to my delight Carol handed me a very striking rosetted Mink female Bengal kitten - Esmerelda - my Mink girl - Wow! I love her so much already - I'm thrilled!
Many thanks to Carol - I'm so very pleased and happy for these wonderful girls to be part of my breeding programme.

"c" section

tough night again last night as we had to rush Floss to the vets. she just couldn't pass her kittens. After a long struggle on her part we decided to ring our vet, Sophie agreed to meet us at the surgery and the 2 wonderful Bengal kittens that appeared from the "c" section showed that there was no way Floss could pass these huge kittens in the normal way. we were so relived to see that Floss and her babies were well and we were all back home and back in bed for 4.30am.

6.30am - hand feed the brown spotted male and female from floss, and check their hot water bottle and heat pad. floss is thoroughly fed up with herself and so we check her heat pad and make sure she is clean and as comfortable as we can make her. Check that her hot water bottle is still warm with the help of her heat pad. the hot water bottle is there to give her the comfort of movement - a bit like the belly of her mum when she was a kitten.

7.30am - cook the chicken for the weaning kittens, cool and dish out

8.30am - its a cleaning and moving day today. Floss goes back in my bedroom to recover and get used to her kittens.
Lil and her kittens are moved downstairs and Katey does a great job of cleaning out the middle bedroom.
Jade and her kittens are moved downstairs and the front bedroom is also cleaned ready for the next mum to be.
Bedrooms need to be thoroughly cleaned and sprayed before the next mums to be can join us. the risk of infection is still there no matter where in the house they are. As well as sweeping, washing and spraying everywhere, there is all the bedding and any throws, quilts, cushions etc to wash - a job not to be taken lightly.

Treasure has had gorgeous Savannah babies - Katey did such a wonderful job delivering Treasures kittens.

Sunday - early start to get all the raw meat minced and the chicken breasts cooked ready for the kittens and their mums during the day. Tim is holding the fort and looking after all the cats and kittens.
a long drive to the AGM for the BCCGB this afternoon but well worth the effort - trophies are being presented today.
we have a lovely catch up with friends before going into the AGM, a very good buffet lunch is provided for everyone whilst we socialise. then onto the serious stuff that we are all there for. Discussing all the hard work our committee and show team have put into running the club for us. Then the trophies are presented to the owners of the cats and kittens that did so well at the BCCGB show last year. I was presented with the trophy for best seal spotted mink kitten for Purebliss Renegade which I was thrilled to accept.
We all had fun with the raffle.
Many thanks to everyone there who put so much effort into making it a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Unfortunately there was a massive hold up on the M1 on my way home which made it a tiring drive home.

Approx 10.30pm - check on Ambition to find she is in labour, and screaming at every pain. so i set her up in bed, laying her on a quilt doubled over and cacoon her in another quilt so that no mess escapes onto our bed. She continues to shout out whenever she gets any discomfort - i feel so sorry for her I didn't mind not sleeping all night.
Approx 9am Monday morning - Finally a kitten is born, followed soon after by another. She no longer shows any sign of discomfort as she knows there is serious stuff to be taken care of here. I stay with her throughout the morning, then Katey, Vicky and Tim join us for lunch. By mid afternoon all is done - 5 healthy, happy kittens born. Mum is purring loudly and loving every minute of looking after her babies.
I'm shattered and looking forward to having a good nights sleep tonight - he he!

Devil has kittens

am - after feeding Vicky and I go into town for the chickens for the kittens.
At Purebliss we feed cooked chicken in its own juices to the weaning kittens, so my first job once I arrive home is to prepare the chickens for the rest of the day. Chop up 2 chicken breasts and place in a microwave proof dish, then add water and stir, cook for 1 minuet and stir, cook for 30 secs and stir, cook for a further 30 secs and stir, if not cooked through then repeat for another 30secs or until the chicken is lightly cooked. Add cold water and once its cooled but still warm serve to the weaning kittens and their mum - they love it.
Once the kittens are older we also feed them a little raw chicken. One of the main things to remember with regard to feeding raw diets to cats and kittens is that the food should be fresh and human grade. if you wouldn't eat it then don't feed it to your kittens or cats. If its been in your fridge over 24 hours then either cook it or discard it.
we also leave down dry food for the cats and kittens to graze on throughout the day. Once the kittens are about 6 weeks old we start to add manufactured kitten food to the cooked chicken so that the kittens can get used to the additives used in processed foods.

After feeding the kittens lunch i check on our "little Devil" She is in some discomfort so i stay with her rubbing her back and tummy. its not long before her first kitten pops out, but not so with the placenta, that takes much longer to come out - about 20 mins. but Devil lays there licking her baby with placenta attached.
5 mins after the placenta is out the next kitten is on his way out - again the placenta takes about 20 mins to follow. But Devil is quite happy looking after her babies with the placenta still attached to her second kitten.
The third kitten out, including placenta is much smaller than the rest and completely white, but unfortunately this little girl is dead. Its so sad when anything like this happens, but it does happen occasionally and we don't have time to stop and think before her next kitten is on the way out, again leaving the placenta to follow about 20 mins later.
5 mins after and the next kitten is on her way out, this time the chord broke leaving the placenta inside. Devil is very happily cleaning her kittens and takes her time before pushing out her placenta.
Devil has given birth to 3 boys and 1 girl, 4 wonderful healthy babies, all "done and dusted" in less than 2 1/2 hours. All spotted lynx Bengal babies. What a wonderful mother she is going to be. i would say she thoroughly enjoyed her delivery. she loved having her back and tummy rubbed whilst she licked her kittens clean. we've given her some warm cooked chicken in some warm juices and leave her to enjoy looking after her gorgeous Bengal babies.
Next job is to let Kelly and Sarah know as they bred our little Devil (Kelsar Ur Eyes Only).

early start to tend to the kittens before we set off for the show. Katey arrives before 6am to help load up the car, and on the road for 6.30am.
Arrive at the show to be almost the last to vet in, but everyone is lovely and welcoming as usual.
First ring and what a wonderful treat when Purebliss Valour is put 1st in his colour - brown spotted Bengals. He comes 2nd Division to Lynn's gorgeous brown marbled Bengal and he comes 3rd best of breed and is finalled 10th best shorthaired cat.
A fabulous start to a wonderful show.
We had a great picnic that Katey put together, although i admit to digging into it throughout the day - he he!
Its was fabulous to see Purebliss Fiction again and see him gaining a place in the brown spotted colours.
Timmy (TGC Purebliss Optimus Prime) may not have been finalled but he wowed people with his amazingly clear stunning snow marbling. He's still looking for that magical final to make him a Quad Grand Champion.
Another Glaciers son, Nedd a Poshpaws bred boy, did his usual magic to make the day special.
It was great to see Purebliss Shadow Dancer in her first show as a kitten and gain best of breed in one of her rings. She is such a sweetheart and at only 4 months old behaved wonderfully well.

Then of course there was Purebliss Leonardo di Vinci, our silver spotted Savannah boy. At only 4 months old he wowed everyone who cuddled him with his personality and need to hug and cuddle everyone he met including the judges. Carol and Richard are his new mum and dad and I'm so thrilled to see how much they love him, and I'm also very proud of him. He took 12 merits over the weekend and 5 of them against a gorgeous brown spotted adult Savannah boy.

Many thanks to everyone who showed Purebliss Bengals or Savannah's over the weekend. They all enjoyed themselves and behaved wonderfully well showing how happy they are at show. I feel a great deal of pride in our Bengal and Savannah babies.

we only showed on Saturday but what a wonderful day it was. We met up with old friends, made some new friends and reestablished a friendship with a good friend.

Day before show

Friday 10th April '09
There has been a problem with our ISP for the last couple of days, but looks like its sorted now as we are finally receiving our emails again. I've been able to send emails but not been able to download them for a couple of days. I have well over 100 emails to go through, although almost half of those are junk mail.

Jan came round for coffee this morning, we had a lovely gossip, it was really good to catch up - arranged to go shopping next week.

lunch was a quickie as time was moving on much to the disgust of Mavis. Mavis is a blue eyed snow (seal spotted lynx) Bengal girl who is pregnant and loves her time with us at coffee breaks and lunch breaks. She just can't make up her mind who to sit with for her tummy rubbed.

Katey brought Timmy in and we trimmed his claws. Katey put him in the warm water in the sink and we soaped him well, then a good rinse off and over on to the towels. Towelled dry and then the hairdryer. Timmy is such a good boy letting us brush and dry him with the dryer, although he had plenty to say for himself - he he!
Mavis is looking through the conservatory window as it over looks the kitchen sink - mmm - she likes Timmy! Mavis keeps bobbing from side to side chatting to Timmy, and Timmy's chatting back to her.
Once Timmy is dry its out to his clean pen with lots of lovely warm bedding next to his lovely warm heater. Need to make sure he is warm enough after having his bath so we put the heating on in plenty of time for his bedroom to warm up.

Next its Valour's turn to have his claws trimmed. A quick brush to take out any dead hair and then into the warm water. Lots of Soap and he loves the soaping up with the warm water and massaging his body. We leave his head alone as he's not keen on water around his head.
Mavis is enjoying herself again, a really good view of Valour flexing his muscles gives Mavis lots of entertainment. We keep telling her she is pregnant and shouldn't be looking but she takes no notice of us at all and continues bobbing up and down calling to him.
A good rinse off with warm clean water and onto the towels with Valour. He loves the towel drying, but hates the hairdryer, so this time we leave him to run around the kitchen without drying him off with the dryer. He thoroughly enjoys spraying in every corner of the kitchen.

Its now 17.20 and time for me to get myself ready for going to show early tomorrow morning. I leave Valour running around the kitchen for another hour and then Tim will put him in his clean heated bedroom, whilst we have dinner.
Looking forward to show over the weekend. There will be some wonderful cats out this weekend, can't wait to see them all.

Many will know that we have reopened our boarding cattery (Holiday Home for Cats).
I tend to stay out of most of the work involved with it and leave it upto Tim and Vicky. However, this weekend i had to spend time in the boarding cattery as Blissi came to board with us at Purebliss. I was so thrilled to see her again after so long. She is still so very beautiful, her stunning marbling and her wonderful nature. We had lots of cuddles over the weekend, and I'm thrilled that she will be spending more holidays with us at Purebliss. Bushfire Blissi was our first show Bengal, although we had bred Bengals since 2000 we started showing Bengals much later.

T-boy update - march

We are putting T-boy back onto antibiotics as his wound on his neck is opening up again. Its seems to be a clean wound and the hair has fallen away from the damaged skin area, so we have a clear view of his scar area on his neck. its only on one side of this that its opening up again, but if this doesn't work we will have to have the vet clean up the skin on the wound which will make the opening larger and stitch it up.
Other than this T-boy is looking much better. He seems to be feeling much better also as he is up to mischief now as with most Bengals.

miss p update

She is really gaining confidence now...and has her mad run-around in the morning (normally resulting in her hanging off my curtains!).
Chico is also starting to come around...he appears more curious now rather than his previous grumbly moods!

Its so good to know that Miss P is settling well.

Miss P had been coming on so well that it was decided that she was well enough to go to her new home on Sunday. I was at show so unfortunately i was unable to meet Nicola in person but we have been in touch since we took Miss P back to be rehomed.

Miss P had a long way to drive to her new home to meet Chico her new friend who is a male Bengal boy who wants a companion to play with.

Miss P/Safi is settling in much better, I think it really helped me being around all day yesterday. She is very confident and has already explored the whole house! Chico is still a bit grumbly but is moving around the house with more confidence and they even touch noses.........
Safi is still over-grooming but it's getting less already, I was worried after her first night as she seemed to have gone into over-drive, but I've been using the spray and keeping everything calm for her and she is already grooming less ........................if I keep things calm give her lots of TLC (and if Chico starts to give her some love) I'm hoping that she'll stop doing it?...........She slept most of the way through last night, she only work me up once at 1am so I sat with her for an hour until she went back to sleep... I'm hoping tonight she'll sleep right through.
She's absolutely adorable!
Its really good to know that Miss P has found such a lovely home.

showtime

Thursday night and a frantic ring round and emails to everyone trying to find a hotel for the show.
Friday morning and a welcome reply from Sue regarding a room still available for Friday and Saturday nights.
Friday pm and all is packed ready for the show. Valour is bathed and smelling wonderful.
A nice peaceful drive down to Swanley.
Book into the Hotel, Valour enjoyed his chicken whilst Leo and Moonwalk sit on the bed with me watching the TV, whilst we share a couple of chicken legs and some prawns. Although i think they got the lions share - he he!
Time for bed for me and Valour whilst Leo and Moonwalk decide its time for fun for the next couple of hours - he he!
I'm simply a trampoline i think. Even when they settle down they decide they like to snuggle up to my head rather than anywhere else. Leo likes to clean skin and then he finishes my hand, then my arm he tries my face. that's when its time to put a stop to it, i don't think my skin can take it. So Leo decides to start to clean Moonwalk all over again. Now its a power struggle on who cleans who. I'm in stitches watching them both, but this isn't getting any sleep.
Saturday Morning - up and out take them all to the show.
Everyone loves the cuddles they have from Leo, he is such a sweetie.
A wonderful day at show catching up with old friends and making new friends.
Purebliss Kudos finals for Stella making him a champion - we are so proud of him being Stella's first champion Bengal.
End of a thoroughly enjoyable day and back to a welcome break at the hotel. A much quieter night and a good nights sleep.
Sunday - another enjoyable day!

Miss P

Miss P is now eating much better and so we anticipate her starting to put more weight on. She isn't as much thin as slim. But she does need more muscle and until she eats more and exercises more she won't put on enough muscle. She loves her raw food and cooked chicken in chicken juices, and she has dry food down all day to graze on, so she is getting back to normal with her diet.
She is still over grooming and pulling out her fur whenever she doesn't have her cuddles, so Miss P must go where there is another cat to play with.

T-boy is coming along nicely. He is due to come off his medication at the weekend and he certainly is looking a lovely boy. we have some pro biotic to put on his food to help his digestion, and he loves his raw food. The rule with raw food is that if its not fresh enough for you to eat then don't give it to your cat. Cats should not eat food that isn't 100% fresh or they will suffer the consequences the same as we do.
