Lovely to see him again. I thought he had decided to grow a beard, hehe! - no - his shaver had been confiscated at the airport. Drove him straight back to our home where he could unpack his bags and relax in his own room.
No, not martin. All he wanted to do was see cats, as if he doesn't see enough cats you may think. It seems we breeders are all the same (Swiss, Americans or British), we just can't stop thinking cats. So we spent the next couple of hours looking around our Bengals.
Lunch at a pub - guess what? yes, you're correct - talking cats!
Afternoon back at our place - guess what? yes, you're right - looking at cats again. Looking at pens, how we heat our pens, how we construct our pens everything to do with cats and their homes. The differences between American and our housing of cats and kittens due to the climate differences. Where does the time go, in no time at all its putting the cats to bed.
We spent the rest of the evening talking cats and eating ham sandwiches - not to mention a few beers! Then an early night for Martin to catch up on his sleep.

Thursday 8 November 2007
6.30am - No need to wake martin as he was up and about before us. Martin helped us get the cats ready to take for neutering. some rescues and also a couple of our own for retirement. we had three quarters of an hours drive to take the cats for neutering. Whilst we were there, we had a couple of our young girls blood tested ready to join our breeding programme.
On the way back we used a MacDonald's drive in to take breakfast back for Katey (daughter) and Tim (hubby). Martin insisted on paying and we enjoyed every mouthful!
Martin then enjoyed helping in the cattery, no stopping him I'm afraid, he was determined to work for his keep, hehe.
Lunch - we are too full to have anything other than sandwiches.
Again, Martin helping in the cattery. A dab hand at sweeping and cleaning cat housing.
Jude and her partner came to pick up their gorgeous silver girl and decided to take two gorgeous silver girls.
Martin didn't mind being left to his own devises in the house (we made it clear that our home was his home whilst in England), it gave him time to catch up on phone calls. Anyone who knows martin will know exactly what i mean. He is addicted to his mobile phone.
4.30pm Pick up the cats from the vets. Martin came along to chat to the vets about the early neutering on the pet Savannahs that leave us.
7pm - Out to dinner to a traditional English pub. Roaring fire and a few beers whilst we waited for good quality home cooked food, red wine and a cosy atmosphere. We had a lovely evening, then back home to more wine and good malt whisky. And you've guessed it - more cats!
Martin told us about his time in Europe and how well the programme on Savannahs went. Martin told us how much he enjoyed his visit to Germany, such good company and how well he had been looked after whilst there.
I left martin and Tim talking in the lounge as I went to bed.

Friday 9 November 2007
7pm - Breakfast this morning is our usual toast and jam or marmalade I'm afraid. We offered to take martin to Gatwick to catch his plane, but he wouldn't have it. Nor would he allow us to accompany him to Gatwick on the train, Martin insisted on taking the train on his own. I think he wanted to catch up on some work, so I drove him to Grantham to catch the train to London, and then onto Gatwick. We had a last coffee whilst we waited for his train, and agreed that kathrin should come next year. maybe we could take Kathrin to one of our London theaters to see a show before bringing her up to stay with us in our home.

All in all, we had an extremely good, informative visit. Now its just a matter of waiting, all these months of planning are finally coming together.
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-53658766850190272002007-04-04T12:08:00.000+01:002007-04-04T12:29:52.467+01:00Committee meetingSaturday 31 March '07
3pm ish. Carol arrives. With Bengal breeders its never as straight forward as being picked up to go anywhere. We need to walk round each others cats and kittens to see what is happening with each others cats. Carol has a girl here, so we need to check on her also. She isn't calling any longer so she isn't interested in Purebliss Blue Prints. We decide to keep her at Purebliss until she comes in call again.
Off we go, I'll drive this time as carol has a bad knee.
Down to the M25 and around we go to the Holiday Inn at Shepperton. We check in and unpack, then its down to dinner. We have a lovely meal in the restaurant and manage to continue to talk about cats all through.
7.30am. Alarm goes off and into the shower. Breakfast at 8am with carol, then back up to the room to pack.
Back down to the desk to check out and then for a coffee. We've managed to talk cats from carol arriving at Pureblisss Bengals on Saturday, right through until now.
10.45am. Off to the Bengal Cat Club Meeting. Its always nice to meet like minded people, talking cats. We all have the welfare and benefit of our members and their cats at heart. Sometimes it may take some discussion to get there, but nevertheless we get there in the end. Rosie and Barry have provided a lovely lunch for us all, and then its back to business. The meeting finishes and then true to being Bengal breeders we have to see what Barry and Rosie are doing with their cats. They show us round their lovely Bengal boys and girls, then its time to go home. Late setting off as usual, where does time go.
On the way home we have a phone call from Tim. Carol answers and Pru is having her Bengal babies 5 days early. Tim keeps us in touch all the way home - another one hanging out by the chord, Tim has to help bring out the placenta. If you know Tim, you will know that this is quite something. Tim doesn't like blood, so he has done extremely well to lend a hand here. The another call, and another kitten needing help. Pru seems to be able to get the kittens out but not the placenta with them. Shes in good hands and Tim is getting quite an expert at helping her. By the time we arrive home Purebliss Phewamblu has 4 kittens born. I rush up to see them and she starts to push out a 5th one. With a little help out it comes along with its placenta and its a girl. 5 beautiful blue spotted Bengal kittens. 3 Blue Spotted Bengal female kittens and 1 Blue Spotted Bengal male kitten. Can't decide if the 5th Bengal Kitten is a boy or girl, will need to wait a couple of days before i make up my mind.
Jacky
www.pureblissbengals.co.uk
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-80279901936889016212007-04-04T11:52:00.000+01:002007-04-04T12:08:09.061+01:00Time to go homeTuesday 20 March '07
Alarm goes off, time to pack. We call in at a supermarket to buy fresh raw shrimps, prawns, meat and vegetables. There shrimps are like our king prawns and their prawns are huge.
Kathrin prepares lunch whilst we spend time taking photos of this lovely life at A1 Savannah's.
Lunchtime - On the table is a large flat griddle and lots of lovely food, all sliced and waiting.
You cook your own food, exactly what you wish, delicious, I must get one of these at home. I just can't resist that extra prawn, or mushroom, or asparagus. Its such a sociable way of eating.
pm - A last look around at the kittens, photos taken of some of the cats. Then there's the paperwork to do. Kathrin and Martin have once again invited us to join them for dinner.
Everyone ready and we're off for another meal. A knock on a door and we're allowed to enter into a lovely restaurant. Everywhere you look there is a deep rich coloured wood. We're a little late as we had a drive around the area on the way. To show us what its like in general.
We're shown to a seating area upstairs. Its all open plan, upstairs to downstairs so you have a feel of space.
We are seated at our table with pewter service and our first course is the salad bar. Well, i haven't a clue what i had for the most of it, but it was delicious. My main course, i played safe and took the chicken, I'm not a great lover of beef. Grilled chicken with a baked potato, simple but just "up my street".
What a lovely evening spent in the company of a lovely family.
Kathrin and Martin suggest the Savannah show in New Mexico in September. Yes, we would love to go, can we make it, who knows yet. I will try my hardest as this is an important show for the Savannah breed.
Back at the hotel, too tired to pack so straight to bed.
Jacky Bliss
www.pureblissbengals.co.uk
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-80441386361270935972007-03-23T20:54:00.000Z2007-03-23T21:27:34.802ZSunday 18 March '07 - A1 Savannahsam - We have another tasty cooked breakfast, which we think it would be a good idea to walk off, so we have a walk to the nearest shop. Those roads and crossings are something else, i guess you must get used to them. Cynthia gets her photos processed of her two savannahs to show Kathrin and Martin.
1pm - Martin picks us up at our hotel and says he has a surprise for us, but we must stop off for desert first. We stop and pick up a lovely apple pie and banana /cream pie mmmmm. Then we are on our way again.
Look what the surprise is, Joyce, the founder of the Savannah breed has come to meet us. What a lovely lady. She is able to tell us about the Savannahs in the earlier days. Joyce exported a Savannah cat to England years ago, i wonder whatever happened to that Savannah - it would be interesting to know. Joyce looks around the cattery, seeing how the progression of the Savannah breeding is coming along.
We get to see the kittens today, what gorgeous kittens. Two boys that Martin shows us in particular are gorgeous. Long legs, well defined spots, not a rosette in sight! Long nose, strong bone structure, long elegant body. Not a chance he says, they are keeping those boys, well not to worry, it was worth a try. Martin then shows us some gorgeous boys. I'm taken by the golden boy with his extreme look, whereas Cynthia prefers the silver boy with the definition of his markings. Then Kathrin shows us the most beautiful girl and i fall for her, all those individual spots with the horizontal flow. Every kitten we have seen so far has been of different bloodlines. No where else would we have had this wide a gene pool. We are taken back by the high standard and consistency of their Savannahs.
Its time for Joyce to leave, and i just realise i haven't spent enough time with her. All this time to pick her brains, and i didn't take advantage of it. There is just so much to see and talk about, so much to think about.
pm - Kathrin and Martin are kind enough to invite us to join them and their children to a burger bar. we enjoy burgers and frys each. Lets face it, we just can't stop talking cats.
Cynthia and I started talking cats on Thursday and we haven't stopped yet.
time for bed and so Martin drops us off at our hotel, and its straight to bed for us.
click onto our website and view photos of some of A1 Savannahs cats. Go to our home page and click where it says click here above the photo of us with Kathrin and Martin with the Serval kittens.
www.pureblissbengals.co.uk
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-65691876373940745982007-03-23T20:34:00.000Z2007-03-23T21:29:22.292ZSaturday 17 March '07 - A1 Savannahs7am - awake, shower and breakfast. Lovely cooked breakfast.
10am - Martin picked us up at our hotel, went to meet Kathrin and their lovely two children. Had a chat over a coffee about the Savannah cat and its future.
I look round to see - Wow! yes it is - Wow! A Serval kitten, no, two Serval kittens running around. Then who wakes up from behind a cushion, but an amazing Servannah boy who comes over for a cuddle. What a lovely nature these kittens have, and how beautiful they are!
We spend the rest of the morning with Martin showing us around his Servals and hybrids.
lunchtime - Kathrin has made us a delicious meal, which we all enjoyed whilst talking Savannah cats.
We spent the afternoon looking around their wonderful Servals, hybrids, Savannahs and Bengals.
Martin invited Cynthia and I to see him in concert at a local place where they were celebrating St Patricks Day. Martin plays the accordion extremely well, and all around us commented on his ability. We had pizza and enjoyed a lovely evening. Meeting some of the local people who made us very welcome. The people of Ponca City are a warm and welcoming people, making us feel part of their community.
Martin drops us off at our hotel, and its straight to bed.
http://www.pureblissbengals.co.uk/
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-5978189881854188432007-03-21T18:06:00.000Z2007-03-23T21:29:52.726ZThursday 15 March '07 - A1 Savannahs5pm start today, need to get the feeding finished so that I can start for Dover.
Quickly get changed and grab my case and tickets. Now to catch the train to Dover Priory Station. Tim is kind enough to come with me for the journey across London on the tube.
Cynthia meets me at the Dover Priory train station at luchtime.
Off we go to take Cynthia's cats to the boarding cattery then back to her place.
Many thanks to Cynthia for the lovely dinner she made for me, it always tastes even better when someone prepares it for you.
I had the privilege to meet Cynthia's lovely family whilst visiting her.
Last thing we feed and clean out Cynthia's studs and Savannah's, not forgetting her dog (Dukie). Off to bed for an early start in the morning.

Friday 16 March '07
Make sure we have all our tickets and money and drive to Gatwick airport.
Plenty of time after checking in for our flight, so we go for some breakfast.
Time to board the plane, and we're off. Change at Atlanta for Oklahoma - oops, we missed the plane. You may ask how? We were told that it was cancelled, and by the time we realised it was still going we were too late. Still, not to worry, the Americans sorted it all out and we were on our way again. Once at Oklahoma airport a driver that Kathryn and Martin had kindly arranged met us to take us to our motel in Ponca City.
We were very tired after our long flight and ready to fall into bed.
http://www.pureblissbengals.co.uk/
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1152717518761446272006-07-12T16:18:00.000+01:002007-03-15T20:17:27.270ZLady Luck's bengal kittens for sale5 July '06
10am - Alarm went off, time to go and make up some milk for the kittens for their feed. As i was passing Lady Luck (snow spotted bengal), i thought i would check on her. Oh gosh, she's in labour! Must feed the babies - quickly went into the kitchen, made up their food, straight upstairs and weighed and fed them. They all had a good drink each, we need to weigh them each day to make sure they are gaining weight. Put them all to bed with their mum, she cleans them up and i leave them.
No sleep for me, straight along to see to Lady Luck (LL). By this time she has already delivered her first kitten. Beautiful snow marbled boy. She's not long before there is another kitten popping out. LL is having no trouble at all, a beautiful snow spotted kitten, LL does like her tummy stroked whilst she has her contractions, but other than that she is happy cleaning and feeding her babies. I pull away, thinking i might get a rest myself, but no, she grabs my arms with both her front legs/paws and pulls me towards her.
I'm honered to not only to be part of this birth, but that she prefers me with her, helping her through her delivery, so i stay.
Luchtime comes and goes.
2pm ish(not too sure of this time) - It all starts again, pushing, and yes, we have another beautiful boy. I've fallen asleep layed next to her, with her snuggling upto my arms. Then she wakes me to tell me it's time again, another beautiful kitten. That makes four in all. Time to check her (very gently), so we make sure she has no more kittens inside waiting to come out. Time to leave her to look after her kittens, LL has plenty of milk, and the whole family is very happy and contented.
All four kittens have already been reserved and will be going to their new homes when they are 13 weeks old.
jacky
jacky@pureblissbengals.com
www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1152470749196181382006-07-09T19:45:00.000+01:002006-07-09T19:45:49.356+01:00An all-nighter!4 July '06
9.30pm - I thought I would have an early night. Just check on B..... as she is due tomorrow. Early contractions, not too bad, so thought i would put my alarm on and have a check on her later. Set my alarm and go and get ready for bed.
Come back into the bedroom, there she is on my bed, curled up on my pillow. I pick her up to put her into her birthing bed, the contractions have become much stronger and she has no intention of going off my bed.
i go and get some towels and lay a quilt on the floor for me to lay on next to her birthing bed. She's well into contractions, but nothing is showing. She keeps taking hold of my arm and pulling it towards her, i haven't the heart to leave her, so i lay down next to her and rub her tummy and back gently.
10.30pm Tim comes to bed, i tell him what's happening and he goes to get some drinks. By the time Tim has come back with drinks we have a brown marbled boy. Hard delivery, large boy and he took some pushing out. Time for a rest, but no, she's pushing and getting herself all worked up. I keep reasuring her and gentle rubbing. Tim takes over with the stroking and gentle rubbing whilst i have a drink.
12 midnight We have another one, a brown spotted girl, and yes, she has rosettes already, wow! She slipped out much easier than her brother.
3am No sign of any more yet. Tim has brought drinks for us both, and then takes himself off to bed, someone has to get up and see to the cats with Vicky tomorrow.
3.30am Being on my own, i'm feeling tired and B....... is feeling tired also, long night for us both, she really want out ot the birthing bed now, its too warm. So i lay the towels down on my bed and lay down with her next to me along with her two beautiful Bengal Kittens, one boy and one girl. We're only laid there 10 or 15 mins and she starts pushing, yes we have a tail, her water has broken and out pops a leg. I've got hold of the tail and leg, there is no way i'm letting them back in. One good push and out comes the other leg and her hips. It's a snow! I keep telling her we need her to push, she mustn't wait as the water has broken and it's a breach birth. One last push and out comes a beutiful snow kitten - it's a girl!
My beautiful Bengal queen is tired now. I leave her just for a few seconds to get her some meat from the other side of the bedroom and then add some warm water. She takes a long drink of the liquid, then lays back and closes her eyes whilst her babies suckle.
It suddenly occurs to me she has no milk! I wake Tim up, "Tim she doesn't have any milk!" Tim looks after her and her babies whilst i go and make up some Colostrum for her babies.
Whilst Tim keeps his eye on her and her babies, i take them one at a time and give them some Colostrum to drink. Just a drop as their tiny tummies can't take much. Very carefully, not tipping them backwards, but positioning them forwards so not to drown them. Their mum seems to know i'm helping and watches me as i take each one in turn and feed them, then hand them back for her safe keeping. She in turn cleans their face then their bottoms.
5am Tim's back in bed and i'm on my own again, well, not quite, but you know what i mean. The contractions keep coming and going, i'm sure she has another kitten in their but maybe its a placenta i've missed.
6.30am One huge push and it's a snow, breach birth, and half way out. She rest for what seems an eternity. Then, finally, a huge effort, and a contraction that seems to tighten around everything in her boday and out it comes, another baby girl.
7am and Vicky is up, she holds B........ whilst i have a proper feel of her tummy, make sure there isn't another kitten to come out. Out pops that placenta i missed, nothing else left.
Leave B......... on my bed with Vicky and go downstairs to make up some more Colostrum. Gently pick each kitten up and give him/her a feed and give them back to their mum. Once they have all had a feed put them and their mum into their birthing bed to settle down.
7.45am Tim brings me some breakfast and goes out to the cattery. My head hits that pillow and i realise just how tired i am. Out like a light!
What a night, What a lovely blissful night!
But my goodness, how tired was I!
jacky
jacky@pureblissbengals.com
www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1152284868161468032006-07-07T16:07:00.000+01:002006-07-07T16:07:48.160+01:00Jinnah's update - July '06Purebliss Jewaharial Nehru a brown marbled bengal kitten was adopted to play with Jinnah and Che, I recieved this update:

Jacky
Thanks again for good advice. A lovely friendly atmoshphere, lots of sunshine, very few rain drops.
Stalls were kindly set up by our volunteers, Bric a brac, hoopla, refreshments, Individually Yours, Oscars pet food, we had a raffle which was drawn at about 3.30pm. Tim had his LGB engines running (big boys and their toys!), there seemed to be quite a few big boys at the open day. James Welbeloved and Royal Canin kindly donated to our raffle prizes and supplied givaway samples and literature for the day. We also had a "name the kitten" prize draw for 4 moggie kittens, and there were "pat a cat" bengals available on the day, a blue eyed snow spotted bengal called "Snogger" and 2 brown marbled bengals, "Bangers and Mash", they all behaved extremely well and enjoyed their time when they were being stroked and cuddled.
Reservations were taken on 3 adult rescues cats on the day to be picked up at a later date. They have now been sucessfuly rehomed and have settled in well.
We raised a little over £400 to add to the original £130 making a total of £530, added to the adoption donations of the three cats reserved on the day, enabled Life For Cats to purchase 2 outdoor cat houses at a cost of £580, including delivery.
We all said what a successful day, not only because of raising the cost of the pens but also due to the enjoyment had by everyone who came.
Anyone wishing to be involved with Life For Cats rescue group will be made very welcome. If you live in the Grantham or Newark area and have ideas for raising funds or time to come and give our rescue cats a cuddle, please contact me on jacky@pureblissbengals.com
www.pureblissbengals.com

Jacky

purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1151307077915007482006-06-26T08:31:00.000+01:002006-06-26T08:31:17.983+01:00Jinnah's new arrivalAnother email from Jinnah's family
no news is not bad news. I have been so busy at work I haven't had a min. until today to give you news on Nehru and Jinnah. Jinnah was not best pleased at Nehru's (nicknamed Bambi) arrival. Che seemed unbothered but Jinnah did lots of swearing and hissing etc. He has also sprayed a couple of times. However we think this may soon settle. He now seems to be OK if not over joyed to have our new addition. Last night they both settled on my knee - admittedly Jinnah did try to sit on top of Nehru but they soon settled together. Nehru has been a delight. He is lively - and that's an understatement - and loving. He eats well. He is assertive and quite happy to let you know if all is not to his liking. We all absolutely adore him and I think even the grumpy uncles - Che and Jinnah - are coming round to him.

jacky@pureblissbengals.com
www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1150827336700559742006-06-20T19:15:00.000+01:002006-06-20T19:15:36.713+01:00Open day - White House Boarding CatterySunday 4 June
In aid of life For Cats
6.30am - We had a early start to a lovely sunny day. Before we could start work on preparing for the open day we had to make sure all our boarders had their usual standard of care. There were the litters to clean out, pens to sweep and clean. Breakfast to dish up, water bowls to replace and fill. New boarders / holiday guests to prepare for, and of course all our holiday guests had to be checked on and any medication prescribed had to be administered.
8.20am - Volunteers for Life for Cats start to arrive. Tables/stalls to errect. Raffle to organise.
10am - We are all still in the final stages of setting up as our first people/ members of the publis arrive at the open day.
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1150826577779103022006-06-20T19:02:00.000+01:002006-06-20T19:02:57.843+01:00Jinnah and Che are now familyJacky-at-Pureblissbengals
Sue sent this email regarding Jinnah after we had visited them to see how Jinnah was settling in and to microchip him:

It was kind of you and Tim to come over on Sunday - the mission was not a failure from our point of view. We loved being able to show-off how well Jinnah had settled. He has been a little edgy since Sunday - but not so edgy as to lose his appetite or to stop him sitting on knees and beds. He and Che as you saw, have become excellent companions. They run around together, they play, they share food - although it is Che who does most of the sharing and Jinnah most of the eating! However Che is not in danger of wasting away. Jinnah really is a delight. It is a great source of joy to touch him and to feel him respond with pleasure and contentment. He is beautiful, intelligent, loving and yet remains a little wild - what more can one ask for?
We are all looking forward to the patter of tiny paws on Saturday.
Sue
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1149097490308497852006-05-31T18:33:00.001+01:002006-05-31T18:44:50.310+01:00Jinnah's success! This was a PS to Sue's last email, but i had already put her email on our blogg:

PS I was so keen to up date you I didn't read the web blog - I like it a lot. I didn't realize that I have gradually told Jinnah's story - how he has gradually 'domesticated' . He has not weed or sprayed anywhere he shouldn't since that time on my duvet - 3 weeks ago now. (although I will keep my fingers crossed). We are also now getting excited about Nehru's arrival. Reading the blog reminded me about Jinnah's injection and chipping. What should we do about that. We could probably bring him to you - but he is still very scared of being lifted or picked up. We would love you to see him 'at home' with us because it is not just a testament to our patience and love but also to the early first aid and care you gave him. However even if you came to us it may be difficult to hold him while you injected him. What do you think?
bw
Sue

These emails from Sue that make up Jinnah's diary are as Sue sends them to us, the only things we have altered are brand names of food on one of Sue's emails, which we replaced with ????? and on an occasion we replaced with wet and once we also took out the brand name.
www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1149097057371127112006-05-31T18:33:00.000+01:002006-05-31T18:37:37.373+01:00Jinnah's confindence is growingHi Jacky
Jinnah is doing so well. He now lives with us all. He slept next to me on the bed last night. He slept on Ken's knee one afternoon at the weekend. He is playful and has a lot to say for himself. He loves rootling around in the garden and frisking about on the lawn in the sun. He and Che are now very settled with each other, they are even beginning to play together and Che is relaxed enough to lie on his back with his legs in the air when Jinnah is sitting near him. All is really working out well. I can't tell you how happy this makes us feel. It is a joy to see him growing in confidence and to feel his affection and trust. This is particularly important in view of the imminent patter of tiny feet. However there is one down side to report ..... Jinnah utterly refuses to eat his ?????? and chicken - he has tasted the fruit of the tree of good and evil i.e. Che's food - and he wants it big time. I have tried mixing a bit of the wet food with his pellets and/or chicken. He will eat a little but goes absolutely frantic for what Che has - he doesn't just politely request it he shouts "I WANT IT NOW!"
bw
Sue
PS what is happening about your open day?
www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1148653640172562072006-05-26T15:25:00.000+01:002006-05-31T18:33:17.406+01:00Jinnah's diary - he's having cuddles!Dear Jacky
Jinnah has changed from a virtual mute into a chatter box. He talks all the time. He also jumps on the bed in the morning when I'm drinking my tea, and cuddles up next to me. He lets us all stroke him, and not just when we feed him and he purrs. However, yes there is always a but, he and Che and still very hostile. Because Jinnah now seems to have decided to love us I think the jealousy is both ways. Jinnah seems to want to drive Che away. It is also partly curiosity. Any ideas on how to bring about peaceful co-existence?
bw
Sue
www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1148653499280525012006-05-26T15:22:00.000+01:002006-05-31T18:38:15.500+01:00Jinnah's diary - what a difference! This is Sue's response to my request to post Jinnah's diary on our blogg. A success like Jinnah's makes rescue work worth all the effort and expense. It's so good when they can spend the rest of their lives in a loving environment as part of a family.

Hi Jacky
he purrs now - I can't tell you how pleased I am. Pathetic or what! Yes you can use any of it on your blog. I may help anyone who is considering taking on what seemed to be a highly disturbed cat. He is a joy to watch. Running around with his tail up instead of dashing from cover to cover with it down.
Sue
www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1148653298274030822006-05-26T15:18:00.000+01:002006-05-31T18:38:49.376+01:00Jinnah's diary - making progressJinnah is beging to gain confidence, and then he gets knocked back, but i think he will get over this quickly enough to go forward again.

'bad' and good news re Jinnah. On Monday evening he actually 'hung out' with Daniel and Che and I in the sitting room while we watched TV.
He was under a table but relaxed with his head and front legs sticking
well out. Then on Tuesday morning he went out and he and another cat
had quite a fight - not blood but lots of fur (Jinnah's) on the back door step. We assume the fight was between Jinnah and Che but we are not sure. We have several squatters/illegal immigrants who seem to think they own our house. Jinnah spent the rest of that day back under his bed (although he did eat his breakfast) only coming out for food. I was very sad because we had made some good progress. Yesterday he was much better. He talked to me again. He played a lot with us and on his own and wondered about the upstairs freely.
But this morning he almost brought tears to my eyes. When I feed him he has got bolder, he usually comes to the bowl and once he starts to eat a little I give him a little stroke. This time he stopped eating and nudged his head back into my hand just like Che does. It was a real response.
Sue

www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1148653082577467962006-05-26T15:15:00.000+01:002006-05-31T18:39:32.970+01:00Jinnah's diarySue and Ken are hooked on our webcam as they have decided to also have a bengal kitten. This was Sue's next email to us:

Thanks for the info Jackey. Ken actually just sent me an email picture of the kittens on the kitten cam - which he seems to spend a lot of time watching! Jinnah is beginning to play quite well. He also meows at me - I think he is talking but he may just be complaining. However he has been an ASBO today by leaping up on my bed and weeing all over my duvet! But I think this will stop when he is more settled. When is his next injection due?
Sue

www.pureblissbengals.com
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1148652860534500772006-05-26T15:10:00.000+01:002006-05-26T15:14:20.536+01:00Jinnah's diaryThis was Sue's next email regarding Jinnah, just to let you know the chicken mince is something that Jinnah likes. If you feed only fresh minced chicken then you should also provide a food suppliment. Jinnah likes his chicken very lightly cooked in water and served in the juices.

things are progressing slowly. Jinnah inavertently escaped out the cat flap on Sunday. However he came back voluntarily. Still not letting him out though. When do you think we should risk it. He had an upset stomarch yesterday and did not eat. I hope he will be better today. Aren't we awful - like over anxious parents. Che and Jinnah still exchanging hostilities but my sense is that Jinnah is establishing himself as top cat. Please could we order some more of the chicken mince when you next go. I'd like to get 2 or even 3 bags if poss.
best wishes
Sue
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1148652509321466332006-05-26T15:05:00.000+01:002006-05-26T15:08:29.323+01:00Jinnah's diaryJinnah's diary (week one)
(Che is Jinnah's new cat friend - he just dosn't know she's a friend yet)

As promised news of Jinnah - he is eating well. Venturing out the bedroom occasionally when we leave the door open for him to explore (windows shut, access to catflap blocked) but he retreats very quickly to sitting under the far side of the bed in the spare room. We open the door as much as we can in the hope that he will feel confident enough the socialize eventually but also so that he can get some exercise. We have put a litter tray in there, a tray with fresh water and his food, a climbing pedastal thing with scratchpost sides, a few hanging toys and a new cat bed. I have cover with single bed with waterproof sheets and old towels because he seems to want to wee on the bed although he is poohing in the litter tray. He is very interested in Che. They have not had any physical contact - but they have had several Mexican standoffs - with Jinnah staring at Che and Che swearing at Jinnah.
As to the names: he will be called Jinnah after Mohammad Ali Jinnah the founder of Pakistan.
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1148652103257541642006-05-26T14:33:00.000+01:002006-05-26T15:01:43.303+01:00rescue catsIn March of this year we took in 8 rescue cats. They had been kept in less than perfect conditions. There were 7 females and 1 male. 2 moggies, 4 cross siamese, 1 siamese and 1 bengal boy.
Our first job was to clean out their ears of ear mites and the debris that goes along with ear mites. Also to worm and flea control them. Some of them are finding it hard to adjust to living outside their very close confinment, although, their muscles are developing slowly with lots of good quality food and exercise. They were then sent to be neutered.
The boy who is now named Jinnah, is a lovely 6 year old bengal. Jinnah was very shy and confused when he came to us. After a couple of weeks he started to get used to us, allowing us to give him a tickle when he came to eat his food, although, he would still hide away from any strangers, not at all like the confindence a bengal boy should have. Gradually he stopped cowering (lack of muscle as well as confusion) and we thought it time for people to come and see him with a view to adopting him. Once he was over being neutered he didn't spray too badly, but it was something worth mentioning to people coming to see him with a view to adopting him.
He has now been adopted, and you can read his story in the following blogg updates, as his new owners sends his diary to us.
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19970576.post-1141897978304665262006-03-09T09:25:00.000Z2006-03-09T09:52:59.533ZDreamer's Babies10pm - we notice Dreamer having slight contractions. we agree for Tim to check on her at 11pm and me at midnight, although it's very difficult to sleep properly, we tend to drift in and out of sleep and keep listening for any sounds coming from Dreamers birthing box.
12.55am I wake to find Tim saying "something is happening". I rush out of bed and over to Dreamer's birthing box. Dreamers first kitten, we have to hurry as kittens loose their body heat very quickly. Dreamer is in a state of confusion, rushing around. I take the kitten gently in hand and tear the cord and discard the placenta. With a clean towel, I gently rub the kitten dry which warms her up a little. With one hand i hold her close to my skin to keep her warm, with the other hand i try to calm Dreamer down. Meanwhile, Tim has gone to fill the hot water bottle, not too full, so that the kitten lays in it rather than on top. This is wrapped in a clean towel and placed at the back of the birthing box, with Dreamers kitten on top. Dreamer is then gently placed next to her kitten. I keep speaking gently to Dreamer to reasure her that everything is ok whilst stroking her. She's settled nicely now and Tim goes for drinks for us whilst i stay with the new family.
1.26am Dreamer starts to push, two pushes, that's all it takes, out pops another head. A gentle guidance and the kittens out in it's bag. Dreamer's a little surprised but with reasurance from us she takes the hint and starts to lick her kitten. I've already removed the bag from the face for her and she's now doing a great job of looking after her new kitten. I keep hold of the cord as the placenta is still inside her at the time. A gentle tug and Dreamer pushes out the placenta, she's not interested in it, so we put it to one side. She's doning a great job of looking after both her new kittens, one brown spotted girl, and one brown spotted boy.
1.55am Off we go again, this time she does OK on her own. She's not worried at all, with full control she delivers her own baby, she's still not too keen on the placenta, so we remove it and clear everything away. With warm water, I bath Dreamer whilst she looks after her new family. She's still a little confused and keeps coming forward for reasurance so I stay with her for a couple of hours until she settles down completely.
All through Dreamers labour Dinky has looked on, she comes to the birthing box for a look and then, happy that everything is OK, she returns to her own family. Oh, nearly forgot to tell you, it's a blue spotted boy. What a lovely site, Dreamer's contented little smile with her new family all snuggled into her tummy.
See photos on our news and nursery pages.
purebliss bengals
Bengal kittens for salehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07274438601380287985noreply@blogger.com
